Default Saito 200Ti perfect warbird glow engine.

Hi, Just posted a vid on utube of the second flight of my 81' ESM Hawker Hurricane with a Saito 200Ti up front.
Watching it on the vid my buddy did I didn't realise how loud she actually was with the flexi exhaust but I think she sounds great & pulls my very heavy Hurricane around the sky in a very scale manner.
You'll see near the end when I go verticle & power on from just over half throttle that she also has a fair amount of torque, the Hurricane is just over 21Lbs.
Still struggling with the landings but am getting there, took alittle weight out of the nose & increased the elevator throws for this flight, but need to put in more expo as she was a little more pitch sensitive with a bit more weight to the rear also the wheels are a little to tight on the axles, & need some attention, but looking forward to getting her out alot more now.

Cheers Steff.

Nice weathering for an ARF. Did it come with the sliding canopy? If not, how about some details.  It looks good!

Thanks Dash, No the sliding canopy was done by me, I Cant remember who I got the rails from but will find out if your interested think it may have been DBbalsa. I made the canopy frame using craft bambo which I wet and molded into shape & once dried keeps it's shape then used the rubber from some old wiper blades to help seal the two halfs when it's closed.

Cheers.

OK, let me see if Iunderstand what you have done. You started with just a molded plastic canopy and re-enforceded it on the inside and added the rails to the fuselage? Did you put the bamboo strips inside prior to cutting off the sliding portion? I'm not sure where or how you used the windshield wiper rubber..In any case it looks great. Did you take any photos during this process?

Nicely done video. Wish I had all those techno skills.

Innovative approach to the canopy as well.

Can't say I would choose that engine, but it sounds and performs very well in your plane.

thanks for sharing with us.

I wish I could see the video, but as long as people put sound-tracks on them, they will get blocked.

Why not just let us hear the engine?

Thanks for making that statement! Music tracks over aviation videos drive me nuts! I want to hear the engine, prop, motor , turbine,or what ever makes it go. Do all of you guys who post here with your dubbed music over the model sounds hear that? That goes for the Hobby Lobby, etc videos as well.

Am in the process of editing the music & will re post, I try not to have the music over the sound of the engines !! just usaully in the intro to add some thing to the vid as those who have seen my vids before will KNOW.
Thanks for the comments.
Dash I will try to find some pictures of the sliding canopy set up/Build & post them on here to explain it all a little better.

Thanks! Ihave to admit that Ihae always been somewhat reluctant to cut up my canopys to attempt the sliding feature. I have done several jets in which that would have been great, as well as a Yellow Aircraft P-47. It would have been somewhat easier if they had had a fibgerglass frame, but without that as a starting point. Ijust didn't want to take a chance of ruining it.

The edited version for those who couldn't see the other because of the copyright breach.

Some pics of how I did my sliding canopy, hope you can see what I did as I wasn't doing a build thread so no real step by step pics.
Seems to work real well, no issues so far.
Thanks for the kind comments Ram.

Cheers.

Okay, just saw your video.

It is GREAT!!!! And you did put some music on just the right places. Very good!!!
(Are you sure this new soundtracks wont get it blocked, too?)

I just loved that takeoff, with that dust-trail looking very scale.

I saw the maiden landing too. Exactly the same happened to me on my hurri-maiden. hehe.

It is soooo disapointing after working so much on a plane. Oh well, thats scale.

I whish Saito comes up with a gasoline version of the 200Ti, as they did with the 57cc boxer, and the FG36.

That would be great news for us warbird fanatics.

A gasser of the 200Ti would be great !! Have just brought a 60cc Zero & was hoping to get Saito's new 57cc twin gasser however with the cost of the kit plus the retracts & transportation over the other side of the earth the budget is about gone.
Would have sounded nice in the Zero ,I have however gotten hold of a new Zenoah 80cc twin with two props for $450.00 so cant complain about that.
Cheers Guys.
