RE: ESM FW D-9
Hi all,
I was wondering; How hard (or easy) it is to get a proper CG on this plane. how did most of you ended with and how did you adjusted the CG?
I m asking this cuz I ll be electric on 10 or 12S but even like this, I think I ll end up tail heavy and will have to readjust somehow.
It bothers me a bit cuz I was thinking to cut the left fuselage hatch in order to mount a servo tray to mount the pitch with a pushrod instead of pull pull cables. Fesiable you think?
I didnt work on it much yet. Just opened the gun cowl hatch and cuted the cockpit the same way as Ty for his kit. I think I ll mount the slyding canopy as well so I might cut even more the fuse. have not decided yet.
Cheers,
Lio

Did you order the cockpit and retracts from VQ Warbirds? If so, when did you place the order?
I ordered my cockpit kit and Sierra retracst from VQ Warbirds on September 23. They quickly charged my credit card, but the order is still pending. I am told they are waiitng for parts for the Sierra gears (?[img][/img])

But it doesnt really matter. The main point is that one is happy with the result oneself.

That blue-white spinner looks a bit misplaced to me. I guess some museum's guy just found a P-51 spinner lying around, and put it on.
But it doesnt really matter. The main point is that one is happy with the result oneself.

Hey n8622t,
I pulled out the dave brown 5" P-51 parabolic spinner that I have here and parked it next to the Gene Barton Anton spinner and the Fighteraces Dora spinner to show the difference in shape, but as Kiwk stated, it's whatever floats your boat
Kiwk,
Yes once I had completed the deck inside the gun hood I went, "ummm, alot of carbon in there..." I will place both satelite receivers well outside that area and I have the data logger to check for any drop outs before I fly. The carbon I have applied is only just only 1 layer of carbon and if you hold it to the light you can see all the light coming through as per the picture
Thanks
dave

I am currently doing some training in flying in pairs with my friends, and am slowly getting used to the idea.
Its lots of fun! Just make sure all are flying clockwise or counterclockwise. I am still a bit nervous. Dont want to loose any of my darlings.
Here are a couple that we might send up for your pair;
The closest is a Platt Fw with a Laser V (Ta 152's) , the other a Vailly Fw with a Zenoah GT-80 (Mine) ;

Thanks

I thought I should show my efforts so far, she's just had a coat of fuelproof. I have mounted my engine inverted and will make some exhausts to get the gas to exit underneath (thats next job). After that it's gear doors to sort (I've been putting that off!) and cockpit.

dave brown P-51 spinners LOOK like a p-51 spinner should....not an ultimate. I have 3 of them. However, when sitting next to FW-190 shaped spinners, they dont look even close.
