Default Wichita Falls, TX-R/C Fields?

I will be in Wichita Falls, TX in a few weeks and I will be staying there for a little while. Are there any good R/C fields in the area?

Thanks,
Tony

Oh yeah! I flew at the WFRCC when I was down there for Maintenance Officer School. Nice cite in a city/county park. Back then they had access to a lake for float flying too.

Just remember the Wichta Falls are Fake!

Fake? The falls are not fake, dag nabbit! Does it matter how all that water gets to the top of that hill? Certainly not...the water still falls back to the bottom of that hill...falls...Whichita Falls...

Remember, we have plenty of places in Oklahoma with names that begin with "Lake". Another few weeks of this weather and folks will be pointing and laughing at those names too.

Ok, the are man-made replicas of the original natural falls, but now with an on-off valve.

Thank you! How far is the field from Sheppard? Any good Hobby Shops in the area?

Thanks,
Tony

Shepard is just off the northern edge of Wichita Falls. If I remember correctly, the RC field is in a park on the southwest side of town. If I am right on that, you'll be about 15 minutes away from the RC Field...depending on traffic. Hopefully someone from down there will jump in and validate or correct my info. I have not been down there in a while (except driving through on the way to Dallas and back). There was a shop called Eddie's on the west side of town, but not sure if he is still there. I'll ask around.

It has been hot and dry as hell for the past 2+ months in this area...Typical highs have been 105-113 consistently. One morning, the news said that the low in Wichita Falls was 91. That made us feel much better about our 84 degree low...

The smart folks in our club say that "Eddie's" Hobby Shop is still there and confirm the RC club site:

"Eddie is at 2005 9th Street. The flying field can be accessed by going down Southwest Parkway and turning south on Fairway. It'll take him right to it."

If you buy anything at Eddie's place, tell him that the Oklahoma Boys sent you and that he owes us!

And, bring some rain with you!

Do they still have an RC flying site at Sheppard AFB? There use to be a paved runway out in a field to the north of the hospital. I believe it was off of highway 240. I flew there in the mid 80's. It was great, used only by myself and one other guy.
