Help identify this P-51 and its CG.
Got a deal on this Mustang about a year ago and now I am finally working to get it flying. Has a thunder Tiger 2 stroke 120 on it. Did a bit of searching but could not find any info. Wing span is about 73". Interesting how the left side has Red Eraser cowl markings and right side has Buckeye Blitz VI.
When I got the ariplane home I saw that the 4 cel NIMH batter pack was mounted inside a hatch about 4" in front of the stab leading edge. In the side view picture the CG is located right in the center of the piece of blue tape.
It struck me that the pack would be so far aft as most warbirds are tail heavy.
If anyone could offer there guidance on proper CG I would appreciate it. Of course any other information on how this bird flies etc would be great.
My plan is to get it flying and see if it is a keeper. Then I am thinking of repainting it over the winter and doing some other fix up work to make it a WW2 fighter rather then from the Korean War.
Thanks for your help!
Regards,
John B.

Hi ,
John, this is the larger of two CMP p51 available.
I have this model and am in the process( still ! ) of doing modicications to it.
I believe it flys very well straight out of the box but I have chosen to put more scale retracts into it as well as a number of other items.
I will check the cg when I return home.

Hi,
I checked the "Plan " and the cg is stated to be130-140 mm. from the wing leading edge( at the fuselage side.)
There is just the one sheet of instructions with an exploded view of the plane and several sections around the main drawing showing things like servo connections, cg, etc. Very poor by today's standards really, but basically the model goes together quite easily despite this .
If you would like some more information ,please ask away.
Cheers,
Merlin Man.
