Default RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)

I'm ready.

Just converted this Spit from an OS 120 2 stroke to a DLE 20.

Tevans55

let us know about any performance difference going to a DLE20?

You say you had a OS120 two stroke previous?

You may find a reduction in power?

Tom
There is definite improvement in performance. I would estimate a 15 to 20% increase in speed. Even though there is a drop in rpm the prop is much larger and the DLE 20 revs the 4 inch spinner quicker from idle. This engine isn't broken in yet either.

Hello all:

I have acquired a PICA 1/5 scale Spitfire. I just inventoried the kit & I'm missing some parts but I can make my own replacements. I cannot, however, use the plans it seems the mice decided it would make great bedding. If anyone has a set that they would be willing to sell or duplicate I would greatly appreciate any help.

thanks

SQUADRON, ATTENTION! A new version of Battle of Britain is scheduled on Satellite TV next Sunday. I already have both programs set to record twice, just in case. I may do some deleting at some point but for now I am enjoying the comfort of thinking that a clean copy of both programs will guarantee at least one good one of each. Yes, sometimes I fail to record what I have programed in the past.

Fighter pilots Wing Commander Douglas Bader (Dogsbody), and Flying Officer Beurling (Screwball) featured in the programs simply must not be missed by any bona fide Spitfire enthusiasts.

So, I hope the programs have the kind of positive influences we have come to expect from accurate Spitfire stories from the thrilling days of yesteryear.

Rolling in to attack.

Out.

When I clicked on the edit above to add "the" before "Battle of Britain" a message popped up telling me the "page could not be found" or something similar. RCU still has some work to do.

I have a set and the instructions. I still need to price getting them copied. How many would like a set?

Default RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)

I've traded a P-26 Peashooter for a NIB Hanger 9 Spitfire 60. Any problems I should know about? I plan on putting an OS 95v in the nose for power. My experience with H9 retracts are limited to the P-40 rotating retracts and I was not impressed. I've got a set of E-flite 60-120 retracts that may work. I've been using a set in an Ultra Sport but the US only weights about 7.5 lbs. I believe the H9 Spit will come in around 9-10lbs.

I still plan on building a wing for the Pica Spit when I can lay my hands on a set of plans.

I'd like to join the Spitfire Brotherhood please.

Brotherhood Update, we now have 193 in our squadron.
ONE HUNDRED AN NINTY THREE!!!

In most countries that would make up 12-16 pilot squadrons or THREE FULL Groups, One full WING!

Well done chaps.

Now for today's announcement; The ULTIMATE 75, 80 or 90% scale Spitfire kits:

http://www.supermarineaircraft.com/index.htm

Now how do I save that much before I can't fly anymore?

Welcome to the brotherhood GregorB & KaP2011.

KaP2011,
the 60-120 eflite retracts will work well for you.
It's almost an exact fit. I installed them on my Hangar 9 Spitfire
after problems with my mechanical retracts on the Maiden.
Have 8 flights on them now and no problems. Looking to get
some Sorties in this weekend.
You may want to look into shimmying the rear of the retracts.
This way the struts will angle forward a bit. I had lots of problems with
nose over. Now it's a bit better.
I have attached a picture of the trial fitting.

If I had to go with the mechanical pushrods, I would modify the retract set up
and use brass or aluminum tubing thatthe pushrods are going through.
That way they can't bend under load.
Everything on the Hangar 9 Spitfire was a breeze to put together if you leave it stock.
No suprises for me.
However, I did a lot of mods, that put me into trouble in some areas.

I have the Saito FA100 and Keleo exhaust on it with a MAS 14x7 3 blade.
Your OS 95v will definitely work well.

Andreas
Happy building & flying

Hopefully I will be able to iron out my 1/4 scale Cub CG problems
and take it along with the Spitfire this weekend.
