RE: DeHavilland Mosquito 81
Okay I'm back I've been following Doug Bartley's Mossie build and after seeing what he has done w/ the landing gear I thought I would redo my first try, the first thing I did was get rid of the horn in the center and make a new one like Brian Taylor has on the drawing. Then I made a 4-40 threaded push rod for the ball link connector. the next thing I'll be changing is the aft mount it needs to move forward and will not be angled. This is a slow process because I have to change what I've already done, so this is my start at doing this.
Here's the link to Dougs build / landing gear for you other guys that haven't seen it yet, it starts on page 19 and finishes on 29.

Prekin... Thank you for the at a boy, but I'm not sure what your asking me how long it took me to make the mechanism? or how long I did professional work?
The mechanism is still a work in progress and I've worked in the cabbinet making trade 30 years but I have also worked w/ just about every kind of material there is and with lots
tools & machines.

Hi splinterz,
I like your flaps mechanism. It is really professional work! How long did you do it?

Prekin...I'm not sure how many hours I have into it so far I would guess to say at least 12 hrs. and that's only the first one and it needs work still. I have the parts made for the second one but have to solder them all together yet. I 'm back on the landing gear at this time I have some new ideas that I wiil be trying once I have this than I can move on w/ the FLAPS because the servos are all together so I have to make sure there is enough clearance.

Alright I worked on this landing gear all day and just glued in the AFT mount w/ gorilla glue so I'm letting it dry be for trying my tests but everything looks like it should work fine but I've thought thatbe for SO I'M NOT GETTING MY HOPES UP YET!Once I get everything working the way I want it I think a tack w/ the solder iron on each joint where the set screws are will be a good idea there to many parts that can move otherwise. And I still have to put on hooks for the springs to connect to the gear, that will assisted the movement of the servo/ landing gear.
Here's what I did today

Well I 'm still working on the springs for the landing gear I made a bracket to attach the springs to so I can adjust how much tension is applied to the gear.
They hook to the gear w/ a split washer that has been solder to the leg just above the pivot.
When I took this photo one of them popped off so I'll have to solder another one back in place, But the good news is it's working.
I still have to program the servos so the action will be slowed down and to do this I need a USB cable that I have ordered and should be here this week.
The bracket I made is in the middle setting for the tension and it pulls the springs to the center getting then out of the way of the legs of the landing gear.
So check out the progress.
RCU is not letting photos post right now I'll try later.

I'll be sure and take a whole bunch of photos to post for you guys we already have our tickets and reservations for the camp ground VA. State park on the beach.
There should be a really big turn out because of the Mossie I heard there bringing a Lancaster down from Canada and a few others here's the planes I know about that will be there.
P51, P40 Corsair, Wildcat, Avenger, B17, B25, PBY, Spitfire, ME262, FW190, ,
FW44J, Hurricane,Yak3 and I heard something about a Swordfish also coming down from Canada.

Well alright guys went to the WARBIRDS Over the Beach this past weekend and
Well it rained really hard Friday night after we got our camp and was raining Sat. morning as well but we went to the show anyway.
It looked like a wash out all together but the Rain slowed up while we were looking through the museum and I was able to run out and take a few photos of some of the planes on the tarmac.
A little bit later the sun came out for a short while and the grass runways began to dry in the light wind but they still weren't sure if any planes would fly but they were able to get a few smaller ones in the air.
I'm sorry to say none of the bigger fighters flew but they opened up all of the hangers and let every body look at all of the collection.
I still had a great time we met and talked to a great deal of people that knew about each of the planes history during and after the war.
I won't post all of the photos here but they will be posted on my other threads.

It's worth going for anybody that can make the trip
Take a lot of batteries or extra charged ones for your camera I ran out
and only got about 150 shotsSo there are more that I didn't get to photograph.
This is a private collection at an air field just south of VA. BEACH
It's at the Military Aviation Museum 1341 Princess Ann Rd. Virginia Beach, VA 23457
