Bummer Toddster, I was hoping to meet up. I guess if there was a good reason to miss Chino it would be Top Gun though! Maybe I will see you at WOTR this year?

Yep!
Yep!
Question(s) on logistics. When we go to other shows like Miramar we get there very early. I understand that they don't allow cars to start lining up until 7:00 AM. Can you describe how this works if you get there that early, or if you even need to get there that early? We don't mind the walk from the cars, we want to know if there is a best place to set up our chairs, etc. We like to get settled in ASAP.
And where is the best parking, is it all one place or is it best to head to a certain area?
Sorry to pick your brain, obviously we have not been before and don't know the tricks.
Thanks in advance,

Matt,
I would get there right at 7am and be ready to get in line. You will want to be there early if you plan to set up chairs and want a good spot. Any place along the show line should provide a good view of the flying but you will want to be right up against the ropes if you plan to be sitting for the show. Otherwise as soon as the flying starts there will be a thousand people standing up in front of you! I generally like to be on the far east end of the field myself, near the "hot ramp" where the participating aircraft are staged. It's generally pretty dang hot so if that is an issue you might consider setting up under one of the large static display aircraft which are generally at the far west end of the field. You won't get quite as good a view of the flying but sometimes the shade is more important!

Wow Todd, we keep missing events, hope to see you at Castle are you down for WOTR this year?
Anyways see you guys at Chino. Are we allowed to bring coolers and beers?
I am really hoping to see up close a P51B and P51A up close, I need a closer look at them for the current projects I am working on.

Airshow schedule : and additional info
http://planesoffame.org/index.php?pa...-2012-schedule
I believe the 'hot ramp' will close off to spectators around 11:00, so if you want to get 'up-close-and-personal' with the performing aircraft and take all the photos you can, then don't "dilly-dally" or vacillate with friends or at the vendors' booths or the food court.
I've attended every year since 1978 and can tell you that time flies very quickly as there's so much to see. So don't waste time talking to pretty girls or old friends. That's for another time. Gentlemen, you're there to fill all your senses with WARBIRDS. ....WARBIRDS , that's your mission , your only mission , your only reason for being , untill you get your fill ... nothing else matters. For eight hours this must be your only thoughts .... and of course .... lunch/tri tip .... and beer.
So good luck , have fun !

Matt,
Since you're not familiar with the airport, here's a couple more tidbits. All the cars are parked in one big dirt field. You don't get any say in where you park. You'll then follow the crowd to the gate that lets you into the actual airport. They run free trams that take you almost to the flightline. Depending on how long the line is, sometimes you can walk it faster. You're headed for the control tower. You'll be able to see it from the parking area. The tower is almost used like a pylon during the show, so anywhere on the ramp is a good viewing spot. It will get crowded, though, so if you want to sit, get there early. And it looks like it will be warm, too.
It should be another fantastic show!

A little teaser for the show this weekend. That's three, count 'em, three Japanese Zeros. No modified T-6's there either, these all started as genuine Mitsubishi airframes. They also have their recently restored Japanese Judy on display. The Judy is only restored to taxiable condition but, I think, is one of only a couple in existence. Looking forward to the weekend.
