Warbirds Over Denver, June 8-10!
Dust off that Heavy Metal and get you're maintenance done! Apply that last coat of paint and check the CG. Warbirds Over Denver is kicking off the 2012 season at the Chatfield Reservoir airfield as usual, the second week of June. Go here: www.warbirdsoverdenver.com to preregister. As soon as RCU fixes their "internal server error" I'll post a couple of pics after a Heritage flight last weekend to get you warmed up!

Here's those pics...Clark, Ken and I tore it up in preparation for the upcoming event. Can't wait to see all you guys! Cal, glad to see the Northern Alliance represented again this year. I know Jeff has a graduation to attend so we'll miss him. Who is coming with you?

Jeff, we'll miss you in June but I'll bet we make up for it in Owatonna! The Meister Zero is ready for a maiden after being repaired by Phil. Honestly, he took a carcass that would have rested in pieces in the "corner of shame" probably forever. I decided to add a little more detail/weathering to honor his efforts and skill in helping us get this beast airworthy once again. Tell him I said "Hey" and point him to these pics. The DLE 111 ran this weekend and should pull her around nicely! Oh by the way, I re-maidened the Meister 109 a couple of weeks ago and hope to bring her to Owatonna in August.

I just found out that Ken, from RC Hobbies here in Denver is donating the new Hanger 9 GS P47! It's one of the few from the first run and we'll have it here first! Lora has one of the old versions and it fly's great but I've heard this new version is even better. We've also received a shipment if items we're going to be using as trophy's this year from our sources. I'm not supposed to go into any further detail about this but I can say that these trophy's will be one of a kind so get those Warbirds in ship-shape and maybe you'll win something very cool! I'm also pleased to say that our Meister Zero has taken to the air again after a couple of years of repair and restoration. That DLE 111 pulls it around with authority and she looks great in the air once again. Here's a few shots of the re-maiden as well as a couple of shots of our Corsair and the Zero all ready for the event...I can't wait!!

Thanks guys! That DLE 111 is AMAZING in this plane! It actually accelerates when you pull up after a pass. I suspect Kirk will again feel a tinge of remorse for leaving her with us here in Denver. Cal, have you guys decided what you're bringing? I'm really chompin' at the bit to fly with you guys again! We'll have Lora's pink Spit in the lineup as well as the Meister BF109. The field is lookin good and the runways are in tip-top shape. "Aluminum Overcast" will be in town that weekend and we should be graced by her magnificence as we have been the last couple of years. We will also again, honor a group of Vets from Fitzsimmons on Friday. These are a great bunch of heroes and they are as excited as we are honored to have them at Warbirds Over Denver. Lora has also arranged for a vocal group to perform live 40's music on Saturday...really cool! I just picked up a bunch of nice give-aways. It's shaping up to be an awesome event this year. Two weeks to go!

Hi Doug,
I can't wait to see the old Zero in the air again. It seems to be missing a chin scoop. I wonder where you could get one? We are not exactly sure what we are bringing. Right now it looks like 3 1/3 scale WW I planes. A N-28, a N-17 and my Torrance Fokker D VI. I could possibly bring my 1/9 scale B-17 Memphis Belle. I haven't flown it in awhile and I am not sure it will be ready in time. We are also bringing 2 yellow spitfires and my top flight P-40. We will try to sneak in 3 BUSA triplanes in 1/4 scale and if there is room I am going to bring my 100" scratch built DH-89 Rapide, which is a twin engine biplane that was used as an ambulance rescue plane in WW II. it was built many years ago and is just recently flying again. We don't want to run out of planes. We are also bringing a 1/1 scale Kirk Hall. We are going to see if we can catapult launch him. Once in the air he flys pretty well.

Cal,
I heard he was a little tail-heavy! The Spits will look good together. Bruno Maidened his CompArf Saturday. The thing looks great and fly's well although the engine quit about 5 minutes into the flight resulting in some minor damage that should be repairable before the event. I got a couple more flights on the Zero today...just about dialed in.
Hey Phil,
Thanks man! And thanks again for all your efforts in getting her airworthy again. We really hope you can make it...all fingers crossed here!

Setting up tomorrow. Weather looks favorable for the event. I just wanted to give you guys a taste of some footage I shot while in Urbana, OH for the Doolittle Raider Reunion last April. Nice video of a lovely formation flight with a couple of WWII vets. Hope you like it...more to come!
