ARF calls for a 2C 160, will a 26cc do it?
I've got a 82" CMP AT-6 Texan that calls out to use a 2C 160 Glow. Weight is around 5400 to 5600 g . (grams???)
Will my new CRRC Pro 26 cc gas engine fly this plane with the same authority as a 2C 160 ? The weight will prob be a little more than the 5600 g called for, as I will be installing retracts & lights and stuff. Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks, Ken McCormack

On the low side. Will probably still fly scale provided it weighs 13 or 14 lbs all up drywith engine. You're at 18 pounds (5,600 g).
I have a 34cc in a 1.20 size model and it flies great and is not at all over powered. 1.60 sizes should work with 40cc engines.

What I do is use the "compare engines" function on the user reviews tab on the main page. This will give you all the specs (weight and horsepower as well as size) of the selected to compare engines and give you a good idea of what you should be looking for. I hope this helps.

5,600 grams = 12.32 pounds. You will probably need nose weight, so a larger engine would give you a safety margin over the 26cc

Built a new CMP AT6 cause the old one was damaged on a ground loop. These planes fly so well that I have to have one for Sunday flyer. The new one has a BME 50cc and fits in the cowling better than the Poulan 42 because it is shorter. A 26cc will fly the plane ok at a little faster than scale speed. Downside is, it will need a lot of noseweight added (2 lbs) for balance.
