I have a VQ P-40 I'm putting together slowly, it's covering (as most know) is a big Sticker, it looks cool but I have to wonder how well it's going to hold up against glow fuel. I wouldn't mind putting a gas engine in but they are so big, any comments on this ?

VQ covering will hold up to the glow fuel for most of the first season. But any edge that it gets under will cause it to peel pretty fast.
Flaps are not needed for a P-40 to take off or land. But they make it a lot easier!
I have a fellow flyer that has my untouched Yellow Aircraft nose cone. He is making a mold and will build carbon fiber nose cones. This is a 6 inch cone and I do not know if it fits other P-40s. But if you need one, let me know.

A thin film of clear rtv silicone will help seal the edges as well.

Default My P40-E WARHAWK 20 year kit

Wingspan: 61"
Length:45"
Wing Area: 605 sq. in.
Weight: 6-1/4 to Pounds
Engine: E-Flite 60 de 6 cell 400 w
I am not sure if I leave this engine or buy a new one as this is causing a failure and I do not want to damage the plane.

than you guys for replying about my covering !
I think I am going to put a Saito 100 in mine, I have a Saito 115 too, but I have seen P-40s and Spitfires on YouTube fly with the Saito 100 and they really go, plus a guy in our club had ( <LOL) a FT Mustang with an OS 65AX and it flew very well, it was fast enough and climbed out well.

ricardovargas1, that's a nice one, did I see it on YouTube ? I tell you, you are some kind of flyer to keep that plane so nice for so long !

I am back on the program. Has someone picked up where I crash landed? I posted the roster from time-to-time, did someone step into the brotherhood squadron roster pilot roll? I have been flying all along, got really busy with 2 1/2 jobs, a growing son, and relapsed into my hotrod muscle cars again, while finishing up a full-scale plane project, which I have not flown yet. Please catch me up on where the brotherhood has taken us during my absence. Great to see it is still alive and well used. Wow, over 150,000 views. Thank you all for keeping it going. It gives me a group of P-40 brothers and their P-40s to scroll through in wonder.

Time to check CG on the Yellow P-40.
Nice bird. Have you flown with the 10cc yet? I'm looking at putting one into service on a 60 size TF kit built. It would be nice to know about the 10cc performance on yours. Thank you.

Default Rivets

Were it mine I think I would throw away the Pica fuselage and just make the whole thing a shrunk down Ziroli. The Pica kit was far from scale and while the Ziroli is no precision scale airplane it certainly is the better of the two. At any rate I am glad that the seller is working to make things right and hope to see a build thread on your P-40 when you get started. Good luck with it!
Hello Chad, I hope all is well. I may be needing more of your rivets. Maser won't lend me any of his. I told him I would give them back once I re-kited my plane.

Very nice. I had, and wish I still had my Byron P-40. It had a DA-50, and was a great flying plane. Wing loading may have been a little high, but it was a solid flier.

Sorry for the late reply, don't spend much time on RCU these days. Be glad to provide you with your very own rivets so that Maser can keep his! Just shoot me an email at [email protected] and we can work out what you need.

Hello, cleaning out the attic and selling some stuff I know I won't get to. I have a set of robart main gear for a Zirolli P 40 and an aluminum 6 3/8 P40 spinner. Not many folks building these days it seems. Not sure if anyone needs these. I would let them go cheap. Would like them to get used rather than keep gathering dust.

Guys, what are the names of your P-40 birds, and what are the reasons why you gave them that name ???

I am naming mine> "Boom Boom Cindy"
this is after a girl I worked with years and years ago. you could never forget Cindy, she was a bit heavy, highly curvy, and she had the biggest personality you would never forget. if you would marry a girl on personality alone this would be the girl to marry. she loved every one, oops, cross out "every one", paste in "men". she flirted big with me, but the only reason why she didn't ask me out is that she knew I was after my wife. every one loved Cindy and that wonderful smile.

Jim
