RE: Ed's Ziroli B-25 Build
Spent some time tonight fixing my mistakes from last night. A little sanding is all it took to get everything where it needed to be. still a couple low spots so i put on a little more filler, most of which will get sanded off. Hopefully another evening or so and I'll be able to flip her over and fit the wing center section.

And here is one of the engines. Not to much taller than the g26 (23?) shown on the plans. I was worried about the rear carb, but it looks like It will be ok- prop hub might need to stick out an extra 1/8" if I can't move the cowl. I might have an issue with the muffler hitting the firewall, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Ed, don't forget that you're going to need some room between the carburetor intake and the firewall or you're going to have to make a hole in the firewall. What are you using for the filler? I'm always on the hunt for a better filler. I hate using it but it's always a necessity. Dan.

After using the metal detector I found that it is really a good device, it can not only help to save time but also can help you to save energy. And besides being used for looking for gold, the gold metal detectors can alao be used to help the archologist in finding treasures and used in many other important places as security tool.

Anyway- the filler is the stuff tower sells- hobbico balsa filler. It's all I've ever used. If there is something better I'm all ears!

How about that metal detector.. Lol
Anyway, tonight's update is rather boring. I'm still planking the bottom of the fuse. A few more on the other side and I'll finally be able to move on. Planking really gives a nice finished product, but it's time consuming. I did try a few larger sheets on areas without complex curves and that save a bunch of time. When I do the sides I'll do the same.
Kind of funny- I'm a submariner (22 years and counting)- can't help but think that with a few modifications I could turn this thing into one...

Ed, I'm no expert as far as rear induction engines is concerned. Start a thread in the "Gas Engine" forum about the clearance required. There are plenty of knowlegable guys over there. It would be a good idea to find out before you get caught in a corner. Dan.

Ed, I would take the mufflers to a machine shop and have them cut down and welded back together. I have done this before.

Finished sheeting the bottom of the fuselage. Even with just a rough sanding, I'm very happy with how it came out. Now I finally get to start the process of tying the wing and fuse together and funally making it look like an airplane.

You aren't kidding! I'm really dreading cutting out the gear doors.
Speaking of cutting- I'm back on the wing center section- cutting the flaps out.

I'm gonna try and take quite a few pictures of building the flap areas since it seems a bit complicated- at least to me. Maybe someone will find this helpfull.
Starting to sheet the wing/flap joint.

is this worth trawling through for you, sadly, the model died before it even got paint on it,it flew superbly, but another will be in build shortly, start of the flap cut away is at the bottom of page 1

the construction wasa tad more tedious, as the entire plane had to come apart, centre section, outer wings, tailplane, all separate, on the new one, they may be tempted to build it to suit the trailer we are on with, it may just have the outer wings detachable,

Flap servo access hatch and hinge blocks in. Mangled the sheeting a bit around the opening- need to fix that and be more carefull on the other side.

I cheated on the flaps, i just made flat surfaces for the leading edges and hinged at the bottom. [8D]

Big E, I'm really enjoying this build of yours. Makes me remember back to when I started my Ziroli B-25 back in 1992. I never finished it. Now wish I had. Keep up the great work John T.
