Gosh, I'm just all NEGATIVE MAN tonight
Most of the comments here about Toledo 2013 indicate a continuation of what I saw the last year: an erosion of good vendors and attendance.
Where are all these people going? To the internet? To micro-electric ARF's? To other trade conventions?
Let's find out and go there instead.

Yo Scott,
Yep, she was selling calendars and seemed to be doing a good business!
Sounds good, I'll be leaving Tuesday morning so I'll be there Tuesday, late afternoon.
I plan on bringing the comparf F4U.
==========
Yo Mark,
I don't know about others but after finishing my daughter's new dog grooming business, I'm now busy looking for a house for my son to buy as he's moving from Travis AFB to Wright Pat AFB. Thus, all my building will probably be postponed until this Fall/Winter but I've got at least 8 planes ready to fly so no big deal.

April 13: spring cleanup at the field.
It's spring but it didn't feel like it!
New tops/carpet put on assembly tables, cut/rolled the field and vents put in storage container.
It was warm a few days ago and will be warm in a few days but it didn't help, today.
With 15MPH winds, there also was no flying!
We had pizza after, so that relived the burden of the cold!
The crab apple tree was the only sign of spring!

Watch yer back, Sam.
Plan is for me to go half-time in 2 months. If the plans work (don't they always?) I will be doing a lot more flying and maybe more traveling the next few years.
Hope to see you out there more.
If I get to fly more, does that mean I crash more?........ or less?
If any of my acquaintances has a smart-alecky reply to that, I'll have a snappy retort ready!

Hey Sam,
Don't know if you remember me telling you last year about cracking up my Waco? I have been hard at it since Christmas doing a rebuild. A complete new fuse was in order. Anyhow I will have it at the Father's Day Fly-In if it survives the maiden. Here is a link to the rebuild. I am doing the final assembly.

Later!!

Note: schedule updated for June 1/2 warbird flyin at Evansville, Indiana.
======
April 25: local club's annual spring 'bring what you built' over the winter.
An impressive collection of planes with some very high quality work done on them.
I don't remember all the details (old age and dead brain cells) but here's a few:
Balsa USA SE5.
TF kit F4U.
Ziroli C-47.

April 26/27:
LMACKY flyin in Lexington, KY.
Winds were low and some sun on Friday but it was on the cool side for the flyin. The grilled hamburgers helped a lot, though!
A nice field, 750' paved and grass runway, nice clubhouse and electric.
I brought two planes. It was good to get some 'stick time', 9 flights, as this spring has only allowed me to be out once due to wind, cold, snow and rain (sometime all on the same day)!
Americana:
Signs of summer: the trees are just beginning to sprout leaves.

May 4, Aeromodelers field.
40 miles.
Visited my buddy Paul on the west side of town and flew at his nice all grass field, two runways in a valley next to a river. Property owned by the club. Has a nice pit with trees.
Paul dressed like it's summer but the fire in the pit says otherwise: 60's but bearable, as the sun wasn't out.
They're big into WW I; only two of us with WW II.
Got 4 flights in.
1/3 scale eindecker.

The web site fixed downloading pictures: now if they just fixed the 'search' feature to actually give what you ask for! I put a search in for 'road trips 2013' and nada; it'll give me 2012 and 2009!

Northern alliance military flyin Aug 9-11.
I just noticed, and signed up, that this year the club has online registration.
I always have a great time with over 100 pilots and a great field.
http://www.smmac.com/smmac/namfi/Registration.html
The following week is warbirds and classics over the midwest at fond du lac, Wisconsin.
Another great field and people that host it.

RE: ROAD TRIPS 2013
Took all day to PM the Ziroli C-45 twinbeech.
One flap servo missing all of it's servo screws: that side not working was a 'dead giveaway'!
Screw holes shot so I put some sawdust in them and a little CA did the 'trick'.
The left gear mount was loose and needing some epoxy
One cowl mounting block loose. After epoxying the mount, I put a screw through it and the fire wall. This plane is close to 20 years old so screws also went into all the cowl mounting blocks.
Put everything back together and she's running fine with both engines purring at about 6780.
In my trailer, I use hollow core doors for shelves and this plane is a little wider than 36" (max width door). I had to add another 2"X2" piece of wood along the side of the shelf as the opposite side was rubbing against the trailer wall, last year, and wore off some paint.
After the plane is secured, I use a dowel to keep the outside corner of the shelf from drooping in transit. Last year, the support dowels broke through the thin layer of the hollow core doors so I glued a piece of plywood to the shelf to distribute the weight.
My new C-45 wheels from Robart.
Engine test video: (I love the sound of twins)
