HELP CUTTING ROBOSTRUT
Fellow Pilots,
First time for me to use Robart Robostruts. Quick question in cutting:
-Do I disassemble the strut first (remove the springs etc from the inside) before cutting the tube?
I'll be cutting off just 3/4" off of 671strut(500 series-1/2"dia/24lb) .
the direction just say cut, I 'm afraid that if I cut into the spring area the thing will just spring release that pressure inside.
Thanks in advance!!

RE: HELP CUTTING ROBOSTRUT
You need to remove the spring first by taking out one of the pins by the fork. Remove the pin on the strut. It takes a lot of force to get the fork back in to postion. It's not easy. Make sure the cut is perpendicular to the strut to get a good seating in the retract. It's also difficult getting that retaining rod pounded in. If you're cutting off 3/4 inch you may not have to shorten the spring. Try it first. Dan.

RE: HELP CUTTING ROBOSTRUT
Use a tube cutter to cut the tube. It will chamfer the cut end to hold the plastic spring stop in place. Once the strut is in the retract socket, it will all stay together.

Thanks Gents. I did disassemble it first.
I was Just under the impression that it was a solid piece on top of it. Find out it's all hollow tube all the way up so I do need to disassemble it.
I got it now thank you very much everyone.
