Ok while I wait for some ref shots I decided to redo the wing to match up with my new documentation. I still have the outer panel to redo

Ok the Leading edge is swept back 8 degrees 19 minutes so you can see that's also slightly off so I will adjust that too

Just in case ppl wondering why I posting so many pics of my 3 views rather than just saying it is such and such a dimension is just to show how helpful taking the time to find good 3 views can be to you.

rather than just grab some outline drawings like you find all over the web look in the ref books for that plane etc and try to find the unusual foreign ref books as the foreign ones usually have the most detailed info as they dont have a lot of the planes around so they make sure and document them as much as possible.

usually the czech Polish and Japanese books are really great even if you cant read them you can look at the pretty pictures

Ok guys here is the finished wing loft and man does it look pretty it is one of the easiest wing lofts I have done yet. I guess mainly because the LE and TE is a straight line from root to tip so no curves to mess with.

The reason curves are tough is when you have washout in your wing you have to get the planes just right to match your washout so you can add the LE and TE guides.

Any Ways Here is the Wing Loft. and my ref material shows the main spar for the wing at 40% of the wing

Ok now I will move on to my landing gear.

So first thing I will do is look through my reference and find all the dimensions etc I can and create an assy for the right main LG. and start with that one. Once it is figured out and working I will just make a left assy and copy all my drawings over on the opposite side.

I have more drawing to do on the B-24 this week so will work on the gear when I get a chance in the evenings

but I will lay out as much as I can tonight still so it goes fast later

Ok here I traced the profile view. Of Course I will have to use ref material to get everything correct these drawings show a rough sketch of them but this is where my ref info will really come in handy.

Next I need to draw the front view Profile. I will then have enough info to get started. BTW at 1/4 scale the tires are 8.25 inches in diam. so that will be another hurdle to cover later but a buddy says they arent too hard to make your own so we shall see when the time comes what I will do for tires.

well had a blast today with the Avenger. Took 200 photos totaling 1.12 gigabytes. And those photos were almost exclusively the wing fold and the landing gear with abt a dozen photos of misc stuff.

A good portion of my pics have a ruler or tape measure in them. some pics turned out a little fuzzy but its kind of hard to hold a tape and take pics at same time. next time I go for pics I will take a cloth tape and some blue tape. that said I got all the pics I needed at least i think i do to work on the gear and wing fold.

Ok the first thing I want to reiterate is I am not bashing charlies plans just showing the differences in his and the real thing so ppl can adjust them if they like to make more scale.

The landing gear on his plane I believe is from Sierra so they are sorta scale. The Pivot point for the gear is too high in the wing and that is understandable the way the gear is designed. therefore I will be designing my own gear which will be as scale as possible.

The first pic is the location in charlies plans the second is from the actual plane. you will notice that the pivot point is centered on the wing sheeting! this means that when the gear retracts there is a gap between the underside of the wing and the LG doors. This is concealed with a slight curve to the LG doors so they fit flush with the wing.

The tape measure in the pic follows the wing so shows where the hinge sits

Holding the tape and taking pics was hard next time I will use a cloth sewing tape and some blue paint tape to hold it up fot some pics. But here3 you can see the strut is about 4 1/2" in diam which means mine should be 1 1/8" diam for scale

Ok Here I think I have it roughly located in the correct place. the tires are 3302 MM apart so I scaled that down and the center of the tire is on the mark. I then used dimensions from measuring the full scale strut to get the lengths above and below the bend.

The next Phase once I finish roughing in the lower strut is to move it over to the angled planes so it will rotate at the correct sweep from the LE. All this is really tough to set up as it is ver tedious so it may take me a few days to get it all dialed in correctly
