Default Robostruts?

Hi,

Anyone got any tips for bending the bow out of a robostrut (3/8") that was involved in a not-my-best landing? I don't want to bother trying a vise if it's a lost cause...

Sorry to say, but bending them back will just make them weaker. Your best bet is buying a new part from robarts.

I had a machine shop make a set of these for the Robart 1/2 inch strut. I clamp the strut and fixtures in a vise and pound away with a hammer until the strut is straight. Dan.

Buy a new strut, even if you manage to get it straightened some it will be weak and continue to bend.

Use a tube (larger than the strut diameter in a vice and hammer away! Smooth landings from now on and you'll never have to buy a replacement.

i have drilled a deep hole in my workbench frame to fit the strut and used that to hold the strut while a smacked the other end. For a long bend of bow, I just worked my way up the strut. The wood gives a touch so that you dont get kinks in the tube. It aint perfect, but it worked.
