Any News on Skyshark P-40???
Does anyone have any news on the Skyshark P-40 which according to the website is coming soon (according to the UK distributor hopefully November this year)?
It is supposed to have a composite structure and has a 82inch wingspan.
Presumably there must be at least a prototype flying by now.
My dad is looking at building a P-40 this winter and is also considering the Yellow kit.
Any news greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jason

RE: Any News on Skyshark P-40???
We were expecting the first prototype this week, but it looks like it has been delayed until October 20th. We will have more photos at that time. Because it is a fairly new concept, we will be doing a lot of testing before we go into production. It looks like the first shipment will be delayed until February.
For anyone who is interested these are the specs:
Fiberglass construction (wings, tail, fuselage and control surfaces)
Available in 2 color schemes - RAF Kittyhawk and 3rd Fighter Group - China
1/5.5 scale (82 inch wingspan)
Includes: Air retracts scale struts on mains and tail, full flaps, adjustable engine mount box, molded panel lines, aluminum spinner.
It will be sold with no harware but we will have a Sullivan/Du-Bro hardware pack available.
The wings will be 2-piece and mount with aluminum tubes so there will be very little assembly involved.
Pricing is yet to be determined but should be somewhere around $800.00
Engine size will also have to be determined when we figure the final weight

RE: Any News on Skyshark P-40???
Hi Mike, for $800 that sounds like some great value and something I would seriously consider buying.
Can you share with us where the kit is made and how durable the gear is. Rotating gear has always been difficult to maintain so I am curious about the design of the gear that will be offered with you kit.
Thanks
Norman

RE: Any News on Skyshark P-40???
We designed the kit ourselves and it is being produced in China by a company that does excellent fiberglass work - not like some of the thin stuff that is currently out there. I have done a lot of research on overseas fiberglass manufacturers and found that they are one of the best.
We are also having the retracts made to our specifications. We use Robarts in our current smaller kits and are aware of the problems. Since I am doing the develpment and testing myself, you won't have to worry about the quality of the retracts!
