I'm contemplating my next scale warbird and was wondering if anyone out there had made any of the Brian Taylor warbirds and the 61.5 inch Hawker Tempest in particular.

I have a set of the Brian Taylor Hurricane plans waiting for me. The plans are excellent and have a lot of detail. I suggest that you order the lazer cut parts (formers, ribs etc...) as they are worth the extra expense and will really help the building process. [&:]

I built the BT Tempest a number of years ago...although a great fan of BT plans, I found the Tempest to be a disappointing plane to fly. I don't know if I screwed up something like incidence or got something out of whack but the plane never really grooved...I was always fiddling with the trims trying to get it to fly straight ....if I recall, it tended to Dutch Roll..as I said, I suspect that I screwed up the plane rather than BT putting out a poor plan..when it finally crashed after Dutch rolling after takeoff, I was relieved rather than glum.......I still have the cowl up in the attic and ran a 4-stroke .90 on it
