Default Zero kits

G'day,
I'm interested in getting a large scale Zero kit - min size 80". Now I know Yellow do one but it is very $$ and I would like one a bit bigger if possible, maybe around the 90" mark.

Basic requirements:

NOT AN ARF

min 80" wingspan

Prefer glass fuz

tried and proven

full range of bits available ie retracts, spinner etc etc

look forward to the feedback

cheers
Peter

Hi Peter,

Take a peek at www.ziroliplans.com. Nick Ziroli has a 91" span Zero that may be just what you're looking for. It is 73" in length, weighs 26.3 lbs. and takes a 3.0 - 4.2 engine. I don't know about the Zero but there are fiberglass fuselages available for many of his designs. And you won't have any trouble getting accessories for this plane.

While you're at it, check out www.precisioncutkits.com. Larry Katona operates an excellent kit cutting service and has a Ziroli Zero listed in his ready-to-ship section.

Good luck and happy flying.

Al

Peter,
Look at the Meister Scale Zero. It is 1/4 scale. 108" or 118" wing span accoring to which one you build. Very easy to build. I have built about 5 of them. two for me and 3 for others. It is built and all major kit cutters carry it. The one I have now is the Model 52 and has the 108" w/s. Meister even offers the evhaust stacks for that model. Go to their site and check it out. They even have vid's on it I believe...

Ty is correct. I bought the 118 inch Meister Zero from Rob Bailey, which Ty built. I refinished it, flew it some more, and just last fall sold it to a friend here in town. Flew on a Q-75 at 41 pounds and flew briskly. Here is a photo of that 118 inch plane with the refinished paint job I gave it.

Ralph Saxton makes a glass fuse/foam core zero in the 88" range

The Meister outline is right on. The only deveation is the airfoil. Iif you were to compete with the plane the airfoil has not been mentioned in the past. In my opinon "only" the Meister builds faster. I have built several of the Ziroli planes also..

Peter_oz,

I produce kits for the Ziroli Zero. They are fully guaranteed.

Hey guys...this looks like the forum & builders I've been looking for... Last week I ordered Ziroli plans for the Zero (first entry into big planes & first scale attempt... I plan on competing with this) I've got a couple questions about the powerplant. A veteran at my field thinks the Moki 2.1 would have the beef to haul the Zero around (rated @ 4.95 hp)
Any thoughts on power?
How true to scale is the outline for the A6M3 or 5? (tailwheel looks suspect)
Any other hints along the way would be most appreciated & documented for future use..!

Thanks
