Any body tried to log onto that site lately? There seem to be problems there.

He is not out of business, he was at the model expo across from us the last two days with a booth. Probably a site problem.

Hello to those of you inquiring about my website. We were away from home this weekend to attend the annual Northwest Hobby Expo in Puyallup, Washington. We had a booth at the show and spent a great weekend meeting and talking with lots of new people. We had our new catalogs, which by the way are really nice, to hand out to all of the folks that were interested in getting more information on our line of kits. We really had a great experience on both days of the show. Our business is alive and well and now for the matter of the website. The webmaster for the site www.jackdevinemodels.com decided to shut the site down sometime on Saturday without telling us anything about what he was doing. We have a disagreement on several issues relevant to the operation of the website and to show the control he has over the site he shut it down. I learned a great deal in the past few hours about domain ownership and I am making an effort to correct the situation. I will have a website back up and running as soon as possible and in the meantime I would be happy to answer any of your questions. You can contact me here or email me at [email protected].

Things are not rosy at Jack Devine Models!

I have been owed an airplane by Jack Devine for quite some time now, 15 months. Jack will not communicate or negotiate, I suspect that this shutdown is the webmasters way of trying to get what he is owed. Too bad it has to go to a public forum. I am giving Jack a final chance to make good on our deal before I tell my story to the public. So far I am out everything I sent to him.

How can Jack owe you a plane for 15 months. I dont think he has been manufacturing for that long. Could it be that Carl Hicky from NWHT owes you a plane?

I don't have too much to say on the subject, but here goes: I am the webmaster for the Jack Devine website, I own the website, I own the Domain names. It was all I ended up with 8 months ago after NWHT went under. I spent 3 and 1/2 years building the website and got almost nothing for that except crucified by association out here in the forums when Carl Hickey surprised us all with his bankruptcy. Jack bought the remnants of the business from Carl 8 months ago and struck a deal with me identical to my deal with Carl. The deal is no secret, once he started shipping kits I would get a kit every two months, and the website is provided to Jack free with all maintenance. Obviously, he gets more from the website than I do with the deal, but I was okay with it, it furthers my hobby without dipping into the family budget. Jack started shipping kits out at about three weeks. But here it is 8 months later, the last few of those months spent asking for just my first kit and being put off. Last day of January, I gave up. I pulled the plug. Not much more to it than that. It's not a power play, it's a disappointment. I'd rather have a few kits and be waiting for more. Wouldn't you?

I'd like to thanks the moderators and powers that be here at RC Universe for allowing me to post this.

Jack:

It was nice to see you at the Northwest Hobby Expo. Your booth was so busy I was lucky to get a chance to talk to you. If you need someone to help you design a professional looking site, give me a call. You know my background.

Talk to you later,
Kirk

Jack,

I have designed and built a couple of professional looking websites for other people, so I'm second in line behind Kirk.

I've got news for you. Jack isn't building anything. The kits that are being built are being built by Carl Hickey. Whatta ya think of that? I just found this out this week. As to the aspiring webmaster contributors, would you go to work everyday happily for 8 months while you are paid nothing? No matter. Within 5 minutes of this posting, Jack is going to NEED one of you to build a new website for him, as I'm about to cut up the CD with the only existing copy left, and leave Jack in my rearview mirror. So, Peter_OZ, now he's got the power, but he's really got pretty much nothing left of what drove his business. Goodonya.

Pretty websites are a dime a dozen, anybody can do that. Let's see how quickly the lucky candidate will be able to bring the search engine rankings for his new site to the top 2 percent in the world without any of the domain names now in use.. THAT, my friends, is the hard part. Heck, my granny can build a nice looking website. Oh, and just so you know, Jack's website requires about 6 to 10 hours a week maintenance because he and his wife Danny are always adding some building project or changing something around (And kiss a good number of your Saturdays and Sundays goodbye!).

But let me ask you this. Jack has SHOWN he's no more scrupulous than Carl was, he's even got Carl back working for the company without telling folks about it, because he knows what the fallout will be when that bit of news becomes public knowledge. But, my friends, it is the TRUTH. So, why would you be so anxious to build a website for him when getting paid in any agreed-upon fashion is not exactly a likelihood? Well, he IS a smoother talker than Carl ever was.

But he still ripped me off for eight months straight, and that's a plain fact.

The good news is, Snyder man is SUDDENLY getting his kit that he was never going to get (read his recent post above), because Jack is now desperate to show everybody what a good guy he is. IF my pulling the plug on the site achieved this one good thing, I'm happy that Jack was forced to give something to somebody, whomever it might be. I suspect that now he's going to be forced to give a lot more to keep things going.

You can cheer him on, you can tear him down, you can do any of the same to me. Nobody won here.

Sounds like you contracted to have the website done and hosted and haven't lived up to YOUR end of the contract. Sometimes a web designer has no choice but to suspend service until a company pays him/her what is fairly owed. You had better get this straightened-out with your webmaster or your reputation and sales will go down the tubes on this board like KMP's did.

C'mon guys. No one here except for The Gee Bee Jimbo and Jack know what really happened. People have disputes in business deals all of the time. It does not necessarily mean that one guy is trying to screw the other. I don't know either of these guys other than from RCU (and Jack's Q/A on Warbirds.com) but I have to believe that both guys are gentlemen and will work out their differences. Now let's get back to the task at hand and LET'S TALK R/C!!!!

No, actually, you know what happened, I stated it clearly above. As far as other folks being screwed, as long you brought it up here, I'd be happy to post emails I've been getting from guys who have gotten incomplete kits and who Jack has not returned mail or phone messages to for months. When they do catch him he tells them he's going to send it right out, and then doesn't, just like he did with the kits he owed me. It's turning into NWHT all over again, and he still has Carl working there building kits. I don't expect that this post will stay up any longer than my last rsponse did, but I am telling the truth here, and doing everything in my power to keep everything about my posts as civil as possible.

Years back I sent Jack Devine money for a Laird Solution Kit. I talked to him on the phone at length getting additional info on his kit. That was over 15 years ago and I am still waiting for my kit. I found out later that he stiffed dozens of customers in the same way he stiffed me
Buyer be ware of this guy, I guess...

Jack,
Many moons ago I sent you and Carl money for one of your Laird Solution Kits.
I spoke to you at length on the phone about the kit.
You never sent me the kit, I'm still interested in the build and I was wondering if I could somehow get a kit from you...

Thanks,
Paul Schwartz

I have not heard from Jack nor seen any presence of him on any website for at least 10 years. If he is still around he has gone way underground.
