Randy,

That's one nice Dora!!!

It doesn't look like the big Moki fits entirely inside the cowl. I was hoping it would.

Have you balanced yours, yet. In the same state of construction, mine is slightly nose heavy with the G38 mounted.

Is the grill in the air intake scale? The one picture of that area that I have, doesn't show one.

The latches on your gun hood look like you modified that area. Mine don't show up as well as yours.

Keep up the excellent work!!! This will be one heck of a model when it's finished.

Randy,

I forgot to ask about the exhaust system. You have that area opened up, so I assume you are planning a functional exhaust. We joked about me building one for you, but I didn't realize that you might be planning on one.

If I can give any assistance, let me know.

Here's the pic of mine.

Tom, Unfortunetly the engine does stick out, not much but it does. I have balanced it and mine is tail heavy at this point. May change when I get alll the stuff in that goes in the nose. The grill does apear in one picture I have, but barely. I cut the gun hatch where the hold down latches are and cut them out then made latches out of thin sheet metal and made pins that I bent the metal over and glued the pins to the inside of the gun hood. Am going to use the rear earth magnets that I Told Kicken about to hold them closed. Thougth about doing the scale guns under the hood but can't find detailed photos of them. Probably welll once somebody reads this.

Maybe these will be of some use.

Can you post or send me the pic with the grill?

Tom, Thanks for the gun photo's. May try to make them. Not sure if I am going to do a functional exhaust but may try. I have an in with a guy that does metal work at an aviation company here in Abq, he made one for my Spit. looks cool when you fire it up and the oil blows down the side of the fuse. As for the grill, I can't seem to locate the book that I got the picture from. If I find it I will let you know. Talk to yoou soon, Randy

Thanks for looking, Randy.

I may just put the grill in anyway. I thought it was unusual that there wasn't one in the picture that I have. You would think a lot of debris could enter the intake without some sort of screening device.

If I find any more gun pictures, I'll send them your way.

You might ask the question on rcscalebuilder. There's quite a few FW freaks over there, as you know.

If you build a functional exhaust, see if you can foto document it. I plan on using a Moki 2.10 on my next Holman D9. I'm considering modifying a Bisson muffler for that project. My current D9 has a modified B&B muffler that I will attach the exhaust to.

My gun hood is glued down. All I have to fabricate is the part that is visible.

Tom, Have had a lot of luck using aluminum duct tape for the effect on areas like that. Used it on my small Pica to replicate the cargo door.

I have some self adhesive aluminum that I used fot the fin access hatch. I haven't got around the the cargo door. The stuff may be too thin. Primer seems to want to hide it.

Tom, On the cargo I cut mine open and used doll house hinges to hinge it. Piece of cake. That is where I'm going to put the stuff that Kicken is hiding under the gun hood, IE switches. air refill, etc. Nothing looks more like a real door, than a real door. Hope your having a productive day. Randy

Randy,

My Dora was supposed to be an every day flier. Since I found out about these forums, people like yourself keep giving me ideas that have changed my goals. I have to draw the line somewhere. No functioning hatches for me. My radio switch, air refill and charge jack will be out in the open. I'll hide them underneath, out of view.

On next winter's 190, I'll plan ahead and hide this stuff. It will get the full treatment. this one will be the test bed for the next for the next. We are even thinking of designing a built up wing, changing the airfoil if I don't like some of the flight characteristics.

I'll be interested to see how yours flies with the Moki, and what it takes to balance it.

What are your plans for the cockpit? Are you going to use the materials provided? They look okay, but don't match the documentation that I have. I used them, anyway, 'cept for the instrument panel.

Tom, I completely understand. When I started the Cessna that was my plan with it. Just wanted it painted Instead of Monykote like my other one. But then one thing lead to another. Decided I wanted to go to the Scale Masters qualifier just to see what it was like because I planned on campaigning the 190 and didn't want to be embaressed with my entry, well the rest is history. A year and three months later I'm still finding stuff to do to it. So good plan on you're part. My kit was one that somebody had already started and the wing had been cut for the gear in the wrong place so had to wire cut my own foam wing. A lot of the wood was missing and there was no cockpit kit in the boxes I got in, didn't even know that there was a kit for it, so will have to make my own from scratch. Been there before on my Spit. I will see if My freind Mark can post the pic of that one I made for that as he has the pic scanned into his computer. If you can send me the photos of the full size cockpit that you have that would be great. Thanks Randy
