Default Gillow´s 28in span 4 channel Zero

I´m finishing a Gillow´s Mitsubishi Zero, modified as a 4-channel rc, with a Norvel .61. I´ve built it as lightweight as can be. I replaced all the plastic farts except for the cockpit with carved balsa, and I´ll cover it with silk. I have 4 Hitec HS 55 servos and light reciever powered with a Futaba 250 mAMP batt. The balance came out pretty easy, but I am affraid that it is a little heavy despite all my efforts. Has anybody done something like that or can give me any tips on the performance it will have?

I´ll appreciate any comments

Thanks, colmo

I've heard stories of people doing that to a Gullows kit. They don't usually attempt it again.

Gullows kits are usually exact scale and are less forgiving; hence it will be a handful (diffucult to keep in one piece)at best. Furthermore, the kits are not engineered to take the stress of 4 channel powered flight. So I hope you reinforced the hell out of it!

With the availiability of the mini technology that became availiable over the last few years for electrics, I don't see why a Gullows kit can't be converted sucessfully. Good luck!

Thanks for your post.

I did reinforce the structure, planked almost all the fuselage and strengthened the wing joint and gear supports. The ailerons are scale in shape and size, as well as rudder and elevator. At the end it is not as heavy as I thought, but it is not covered yet.

anyway, Ill tell you how it goes as soon as I try it.

Colmo
