Thought I would share some pics of the 109 in progress.

This is building into a nice plane, Pat has incorporated nice ideas into this kit. A pleasure to build. Stop by the site and have a look at the progress.

I cant get over how much I love the gear, the bulkheads and related support make for what I feel will be a pretty bullet proof set up.

If you hard land this set up, my personal guess is that you wont dont do any damage to the gear, or the supports network. Great job Pat.

Evo, there is some work done, but still a whole to go, plenty of room for you to "catch-up".

Hey Ray,
Man oh man! I see what you mean about the gear and mounting. That does look pretty sturdy. Looks like it could handle a few hard landings with no trouble at all. Looking good.

...Russ, gotta stop by the shop and see this thing. When you and Vic and Scottie do the small 109, this would be a good way to go.

Spinner Back plate drilled, initial firewall pattern built, waiting to see if customer wants to use a prop extension or not.

updated pics, and started adding some verbiage.

Ray, great job on the documentation of building. I recently received my 109 from Pat and will tackle her after I do a Yellow P-47. The practical building advice tips you show on the gear and such are very helpful. I'll be doing the G-6 version of Hermann Graff, Red One. Love to see yours in progress. DBE San Diego.
BTW, scale gear, ZDZ-80, 3-blade prop.

Hey guys,
I have been getting lots of emails, if I dont answer your email check on the Air Ray Inc website. At the end of each week I will be adding more narratives, based on some of the questions that I have been getting about this project.

Manfred,
You are going to enjoy the kit, Pat has put together a pretty comprehensive manual. This kit will be done up as the G-10.

Burl,
Vic has a nice spit, and there are alot of acc. for it as well. You would enjoy flying with this little group of ours. We do nothing but go out and have fun flying formation flying.

Ray,

When I finish either my Jug, or Spit, or FW or Bearcat, I would
love to fly some sorties with you guys

Glennis wheels now in hand.
I gotta get me some of these! These guys (Glennis) are keeping right in line with the gear from PCM/Sierra. Very well built, and scale tread pattern.

Thanks Ray. We are now developing the "G-10" wheels in 6" (for the PCM), which are different than the normal wheel,

Default PCM

Naw that aint no fun then and it isnt 1/3 scale. I like to scratch build only unless doing it for customers I hate most kits I like the old fashioned all built up designs just hate getting a set of plans that are supposed to be so great and find out they are boxed fuse construction that cant be blown up very well but I about have it redisigned and almost ready to do a small 3 ft wingspan version to make sure all my parts fit good.

Ray, How about a Century Jet bubble top Spitfire about 50% done? I know you love Spits (you picked a Yellow one up from me in San Diego). Don't know if I'll ever get around to finishing her.

Manfred;
just sent you a pm.

Joe;
You think like me, bigger just "plane" kicks ass! I would love to have a 1/3 scale B Stang to chase around your 109.
I am sure you know this, but the PCM is NOT a built up fighter, but a fiberglass fuse, and foam core wings, and it is cool to see how you can go into any number of 109 versions with it, the way that pcm designed it.

psst pat, gimme some scale exhausts for the 109.

Yes I know. I dont mind a glass fuse sometimes as I had once built a mold for zirolis P-40 but had to sell when I moved due to lack of room. but i dont know what it is but I cannot work with a foam wing to save my life. I have sheeted them fine but cutting all the crap for installing flaps retracts torque tubes etc frustrates me. maybe if I had more experience with them. I guess it is just too hard to teach an old dog new trics.

Maybe ya can fly the 1/3 scale spit I am going to do around my 109 I am doing 1/3 scale on a request for a display but after they done on the display I hope to get them airbourne

I would go nuts to do some mock dog-fighting with a Spit vs. 109. Sign me up right now.

There are more pics added on the progress, not alot this week thanks to the holiday and family requests. Great shot of the wheels and tyres, firewall install, wing tip attach and initial glassing of wings.
