I'm looking for a set of plans for a F6F Hellcat. As with women...size matters (in this case)
I've got a 120 4 stroke I'm looking to put in it. I know that Ziroli's plans are too large for the engine and I am aware that Bob Holman has some too...a 64.5" WingSpan and an 80" Wingspan version. The 80" version will be too heavy according to Jerry Bates for a 120 engine. Their 64.5" version says it's rated for a .60 sized engine but that seems a little small for the plane considering that SkyShark RC has a 57" wingspan Hellcat and they say it's rated for a .60 - .90 engine. That to me implies that either the SkyShark plane is heavy as heck or the 64.5" of Bob Holman's is underrated at .60. What do you all think? Would the 64.5" BH Plan work with my RCV 120 or do you think I need something in between 64.5" and 80"? Does anyone know any other plans out there for the Hellcat?
Thanks,
Jay

Somehow I don't think I'll attempt enlarging the plans...something tells me I'd mess it up
I would be curious to see how the 120 fairs on the 65" version though. If you ever get around to doing it let me know!
Thanks,
Jay

The Sky Shark models use larger engines for the higher altitude that they fly at. So the power recommendations are good for people who live in or around the mountains.
As far as Brian Taylor is concerned, he always powers his designs on the low side. To keep the flying speeds near scale. His models build very light and scale. Depending on where you live, a 1.20 might be okay for the BT plans. You can always pull back the throttle.

from experience , your going to spend just as much or more building
from plans , and your also going to spend twice as much time building it.
I'D GO with the skyshark Hellcat kit , everything is there in the kit
and everyone seems to like these kits
I WISH topflight would come out with a hellcat
lastly , there is a wing mfg kit, website is www. wingmfg.com
good luck

If you are looking for a kit I have a Wing mfg. Hellcat with all the accessories including Robart retracts.
If you are interested I will make you a good deal on it.
Thanks Tim

The RCV 120 will probably handle the 80" Hellcat. It would be too big for the Holman 64" one and the Wing 61". Those two will fly fine with a .60. I am putting an RCV 120 in a TF T-34 that will weigh close to 16#. I have Bob Sweitzer's plans for a 64" Hellcat and it was designed with just a .60.
