Then replace the Wife's car with a high undies or similar that she likes, keep her happy. Her car can be the family car and your car will be the van and you have a bike for work.

Just thoughts. Understand you love the hoon mobile but it is hardly practable and would be expensive to run and maintain.

Ahh was wondering how you did it, very good editing!! Will have to get you to come oput and video the P47 when the time comes for that.

The Phoon is excy to run but just too much fun. Been a good reliable car, but when your pushing 300KW and 555Nm of torque through day in day out, eventually thing wear.... Bike is on the market today with a RWC, and the wifey wants a subi BRZ.....

anyways, are you going to the warbirds day at tingalpa on soon? Thinking I might head out to it if I can twist shaneo's arm.

Hopefully that P-47 of your will be ready soon then

Thanks

Dave,

yeah I could say same about the LR Disco, it's a great wagon, good on fuel but maintence is exy and it goes through tyres like nothing. 3 ton of car will do that! Km are getting up on it too, 183,000. Last thing I want is big repair bills. Donk and trans are very exy on these things. I nurse it now, not flogging it like I used to.

Well mae considering how many toys you get the wife is probably overdue a good car to compansate! Buy her what she wants! Happy wife happy life!
a lesson I never learnt oh well.

probably will go to TMAC woarbirds, 47 will not be ready.

Hi Pete ( and Dave )

You guy's didn't miss anything by not going to the Warbirds thing at Hervey Bay. I gave up on the idea of flying even though my new radio arrived Friday. I did not think my P-47 was the model to test a new radio with and a Warbirds meet was not the place. We decided to go to Hervey Bay for the weekend anyway to catch up with friends. I spent about 3 hours at the field Saturday and it was blowing a gale. Only a couple of suicidal foamies flew while I was there. Sunday was just as bad so I did not even bother going to the field.

On the way home we stopped in at Bundy to catch up with Richard & Patti. While Richard & I were busy talking about my Boomerang project, Hellen & Patti were in a huddle around the computer in the workshop and soon their vinyl cutter fired up. Following that they attacked my car.............

Cheers

Mick

think I need something like that for my trailer but in black

P47 with Pete-N-Planes under it

Well the P51 is on the bench, first step is to cycle the batteries. the onboard glow battery won't take cahrge at present so it will have to go on the BURP smart fast charger to get a kick in the pants.

there are a few cosmetic repairs that need doing as well. Amazing all the things that go wrong with a model when you haven't flown them in 2 years.

Man is seems somebody robbed me of the last 2 years of my life, looking back it really was a crazy blurr and my head still spins from it all. Anyway got to look forward. Was offered to go to this birds place down the coast, come down and I will cook you dinner and you can stay the night. Thinks I, mmm I am going flying on Sunday. Sorry Luv but no, I come first these days and that includes my planes.

I am never, evr, ever and I repeat ever putting a woman first before my happiness and hobby. They can all go get knotted.

anyway that is my rant.

So back to the P51 once the batteries have cycled I wil lset up the wing and run hoses so I can start cycling the retracts and see what the problem is, most likely a small air leak in a cyclinder causing the UP2 to hiss and not sequence.

Then it is P47 time!!

As I had a **** day at work had to console myself . . .

All this P-47 talk got me going in the shop also. I had to cut a groove in the 90degree elbow so I can turn the carb over for an easyer set uo on the lincage and the choke rod. Got her al dun. All I have to do now is wait for this Arctic front to go by and warm up a bit and I can start her up.

cool Tom,

all good progress. With some luck I might get the mustang sorted out over the weekend. Be good to give it a run to clear the cobwebs and have it flight ready again.

Though my Seafury wing kit would have been here by now. Emailed Larry at PCK about tracking info, no reply though hmmmmmm

Wing kit for the seafury has arrived and I have cleared off my big bench to lay the plans out and get a feel for this build. As I have not built off just plans before it will be a bit of a challenge but my mate Ron will pop over and give me some pointers. He is avery experienced scratch builder. Also can go into RCSB and check out Neill'ys Vailly Tempest build. Pretty much same wing except it has a couple of extra rib bays in the centre section.

My Landrover battery is on it's last legs and I keep have flat batteries. Alternator is fine as it should almost 15v when I measure using my Fluke 77. New battery I got a quote for yesterday is $628!! That is the Landrover version though been told I can get the Exide G14 which is the same battery just without the LR sticker and price tag for around $350. Will do a ring around.

In the meantime I take the battery charger and a powercord with me and charge the battery every few days. PINTB!!!!

Good news and no the JWs or one of those crowd have not come knocking on the door to spread the good news with us all, but the P51 is nearly flight ready. Have cycled the retracts and they are working perfectly. Have done a flaps test, had to adjust some of the end points and sub trim on each flap channel but they are fine now. Dialled in a little more elevator as I think it was marginal before.

Fixed a couple of things and got a new Sub C NiMh cell 3000mA/h for the onboard glow for the ST2500 and have that on a form charge. Will rn it up on Sat morning and taxi around the backyard. Was thinking of flying at my clubs big Warbird meet on Sunday but as it is over 2 years since I have flown this model I am thinking best not to.

bought myself a new toy too :-)

5 out of 8 models now airworthy.

Remaining:

- P47 build completion
- Seafury new wing build
- Spitfore 90" refurb

plus new builds at some stage . . .

So now the P51 is about off the bench I will put P47 next in the queue and get back onto that.

cheers
Peter

Got two new nMh batteries for the receiver on the jug. The ones that were in the Jug are in my Stick. Got Everything charged up. Went through a control check today. The Kill Switch is working. Friday is supposed to be 45F and dry. I may just have to hook the plane up to the hitch on the Van and see if it will start. Never had the engine running and the 12X is new to this plane also. Still learning the 12X. Hope things work like they are suposed to.

Hay Old Tom and the rest of you rascal's

We got out of the deeeep freeze today 21 F and the weather guys are saying it might get to 30 by sunday.

What brand is the 12X ?

And I have 2 new engines that I have not run as yet RCGF-62 in my weeks with a home made muffler pitts style but about 3 times the volum of the bison or slimlines so will see if it will bring the noise level down. Then there is the thing I call the BAD BIPE 9( kinda like a pitts)it is an Barf and badley done with an RCGF-45 thats new.

got the 47 repairs done and ready for paint, with the new steel plate in the soft mount did not have to add any nose weight its the white thing behind the bell mount

A

It's a JR.

The RCGF62 is what I took out of the Jug. I had a problem keeping the plug tight and the engine would lean out and die. I hear that that is not a problem with all of them. Hope yours is ok.

Old Tom

As I remember yours had the big plug hole with a bushing, mine has the little one with no bushing, have not heard of your problem with the current configuration, so will just have to see, but you can bet first few flights will be hi and close in just in case, and plan on at least 1/2 gal break in on the ground, and the same for the 45

hey Tom,
good to hear that you are getting cobwebs or should I say snow out of your birds. 12X is a good radio, does take a bit of learning with the software though. I beleive the newer JR radios are much easier to program and the new 26ch expandable sounds exciting though out of my league for a bit.

cheers

gee 45F, sounds like a right heat wave! Starting to cool a little at night here, down to about 18C overnight!

I find solid steel plate softmounted works well at dampening the vibration, have that on my seafury.

Good luck on those new donks Bob.

Back to my spreadsheets and gannt charts now. Bah

should be grateful and I am for my job.

Yeah Bob we did have snow like that a coupple of weeks ago. The last go around missed my house by about 40 miles. We were suposed to get 10 inches of snow but got nothing. No one here was complaining.

We have a saying in Indiana. "If you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes."
