To all the P-47 builders who have contributed to this thread, whilst I have been lurking in the background mainly because I have not been building a P-47 I have been reading the thread almost daily. I would like to thank you all for the knowledge and skills you have passed on. I have learnt a lot.
On that note I would like to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year.
Look forward to seeing more of your wisdom in 2016 take care all and happy flying.

Thank you gentlemen, I will certainly pass on your regards to Pete.
We are going to get together over the Christmas break and go out and do a bit of fishing up here on the Sunshine Coast.
Take care all, catch you in 2016.

G'day all you gentlemen, first Happy New Year to you all.
Had Pete come up from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast on Sunday 3rd Jan about a 130k trip each way.
He brought his Tiger Moth up and we both went out and flew at my club. 4 flights each very enjoyable morning.
In the afternoon we took my boat out, and I mean out because the motor just refused to start again and we ended up being towed back to the boat ramp we started at. Not Good.
But at least we got back safely.
Anyway please see below some YouTube links that Pete sent me of his brilliant P-47, especially for you Old Bob.(Says Pete)

Anyway Pete sends his regards to all his P- 47 friends.
Please check out his very scale work per the YouTubes - enjoy
Kind regards, please keep posting to the thread as we can all improve our skills.
Happy Flying.

No problem Bob,
Some more notes from our friend with Pics.
As I'm confined to home while I have bronchitis I decided to sweat the bug out and get into the shed.
Made the transport stand for the P47.
Tis a tad heavy though.
Probably should have used poly pipe like my mustang one is made of. Super light.
Form the famous Pete.
Enjoy blokes Cheers.

quite frankly I'm not sure, but anyway here are the words from Pete.
"You can tell Bob it may well be broaditis or lack of it hehe though I am working on it."
"Cheeky bugger"
Cheers OldDC.

Oh sorry guys 18.32 kg roughly equates to 40.304lbs for all you yanks out there.
Start weight was 15.21kg or 33.462lbs, so quite a lot of nose weight required 6.842lbs.
Pete mentioned his concern about his DA50 pulling off the deck, feels he should be OK with a long runway with cleared areas at both ends.
Said a DA60 would fit but will require a lot of surgery.
Will provide updates as we progress.
Cheers for now.

Well here I am again and greetings form Pete,
Seems he has been very busy, so I won't go into the details and let the pictures speak for themselves.
From Pete,
Set a new datum based on the fuz centerline. Took over two pounds off the weight.

Weight is down. Threat works out to be 17kg once you take off the rig and ropes etc.
38lbs
Had to fix a wiring problem in last photo
Said to Pete, She looks beautiful on her legs and asked if he did an engine run up?
"It does and no as I'm having fuel tank problems with plumbing.
Cheers Pete.
Hope you all enjoy,
Regards to all Pete's mates - OldDC
Dennis - OK so now you know my name.

40 Pounds with a 50cc HMMMM.
Mine weighs 38 Pounds and has a 3W85 and it needs it on take off.
Still a very good flyer at that weight.
50cc for me thats not enough engine if you go with the 50cc get plenty of room on the take off.
Dave.

I have flown a pair of Jugs the same size as the Top Flite, one weighs 28lb & the other 35lb. I flew the two in different categories in the same competition, jumping between the two over 4 days. Both are powered by DLE55s. The only notable difference was that with the elevator set up to give a similar feel in general flight, the heavier one felt like it took alot more pull to bring the nose up coming out of the bottom of a loop or half reverse cuban. Not even any difference in the landing characteristics. All that with 7lbs difference, I can't see Pete's extra 3lb being too big a problem.
