Alkaline, I believe that is an illusion that occurs when videotaping a moving propeller.
Richard L, thank you for sharing those excellent movies !! Nice landing also [sm=thumbup.gif]

Looking great, richard.
Im eager to get my TP Jug up in the air but will have to wait 5 month or so for the wether to get better again. Got the first snow today.
About the that the prop seems too be spinning slow. It depends on how many pics/sec the camera takes. I dont know how digital cameras work but guess they work the same way. I did just read about this on another site on The Internet.

I think the propeller looks like that from using the high speed "sports/action" setting on the camera. If you use the normal settings, the prop looks normal.

Thanks guy. The videos were recorded with a Sony Digital8 camcorder. I don't know why the prop appeared to be spinning so slowly. The camcorder doesn't seem to have the high speed "sports/action" setting.
Some more info on the plane:
* Engine: Zenoah G-62
* Retracts: Robart with retractable tailwheel
Perhaps Rob S. can chime in to tell us more about the plane weight, prop used, etc...

Great camera work Richard! Thanks for letting me show off how easy the Top Flite GS P-47 can make a pilot look good. Believe me fellow warbirds lovers, I would highly recommend this plane for your first giant scale project. I built this plane as per the included instruction and plan. The only modification was the G-62 which fit entirely in the cowl with a Bennett muffler and weight the same as the U.S 41 that the instruction recommended. This plane was finish with Ultracote, what the heck !, film covering on a GS warbird? I did it to save weight (plane total weight was 22.5 lbs) and gave it a museum finish to replicate the current "Tarheel Hal" that I believe is still flying with the Lone Star Flight Museum in Texas. Again thanks Richard for teasing the warbird community with some great videos. Now all we can hope for is that Top Flite will produce this plane in ARF or ARC. With the success they got with the GS P-51 that I've seen, why wouldn't they? I flown both GS P47 and the P51 and by far the jug is a much better handling airplane than the P51. I hope they would produce both the bubble top and the razorback version, that just my wishful thinking.

many thanks for that Richard, I'm very impressed with it. i'm about half way through building the top section of the fuz on my GS TF P47 and it will have same setup but will be glassed and painbted, probably as "hairless joe"
That is so very stable and scale like in the air, not like most warbird models you see.
Great camera work.
cheers
Peter

BankYank, with the G-62 setup, it came out slightly nose heavy. I added about 6 oz. right behind the tail wheel's opening and it came out balanced as per the instruction.

I think that plane really captures the essence of a p-47.....the Wings (eclipse type, like the spitfire) are just
fantastic!)

What a thrill to watch. I just love that version of the P47D. Great flying and great craftsmanship. Enjoy many years of strafing runs on those 3rd reich locomotives!

Wow.....an old thread that I never saw when I was building mine.
Here's my vid anyways.......That is JohnVH on the sticks for the maiden. Why I let him fly it I'll never know as the flights I flew after this were cake for me.
