RE: Flair SE5A Build Thread
Well, here's 7 new pics. When I finished the bottom wing, I put everything together and took a couple pics. The first three are different angles. The fourth is the cockpit with I roughly cut with a knife and then sanded with my rotary tool.

RE: Flair SE5A Build Thread
Here's the last three. I didn't want to cut up the gun kit, so I built the hatch to allow access and to look neat. It may not be perfect scale, but it is roughly the same size and in the same area. I used light weight tin,and cut it and bent it to make homemade hinges and pins. For the gun mounts I'm using a two balsa blocks with small nails through them. For the forward base area, I glued two blocks and sanded to shape. I don't know whether To do the cockpit or upper gun next...

RE: Flair SE5A Build Thread
Hi
There is a viewable vickers on the plans which shows you where to place, but I used http://storage.mfa.free.fr/se5photo3uk.html for most of my aligning of the vickers. The plans show where the lewis gun goes, too, but I have not figured out a way to make it removable. I made a balsa stick with a curve to mount it about in the same spot, but I plan on glueing it in place, so that it doesn't fly off in the wind. Maybe later I can get pics of it and what I've done on the cockpit so far. The cockpit is extremely basic, and I haven't even decided if I want to add the rudder pedals, or just not include them.

N28 if you're still watching this thread, a couple of questions to gain the benefit of your experience if you wouldn't mind?
Caught your mention of Flair's Legionaire.
1. Is it just squirrelly, ...or an outright PITA handful getting on/off the ground?
2. Would an O.S. 40 Surpass be enough engine for it? I'm after semi-scale like performance in the air. Or does it really need a .46/.48/.52?
Thanks.

There is room to go as scale as needed, but I just made it look close in size, and closed it off. I'll see if I can get some pics soon.\

RE: Flair SE5A Build Thread
Hello
I have made progress, but I don't have a way of taking any pics right now. My mom took the digital camera with her to Texas. I have completely covered the plane, and I have begun to paint it Olive Drab, but I ran out of paint. I finished the fuse, and attached the blue, white and red rudder to it. The bottom wing is done, but the top is nowhere near finished painting. I have made the fake exhausts, too. Once its done, the only thing it lacks is: 1. Decals 2. Pilot 3. Wheels 4. Radio and 5. Engine. I will make the decals myself, for a pilot, I'm going with Snoopy, I'll use the radio I have now with new servos. For the Engine, I think a Super Tiger .40 will work well in the cowl. For wheels, I'm looking for 4 3/8" vintage wheels. WB isn't back up and running just yet, and the only place I know that carries them is Flair, which will cost $30 to buy and import into the U.S.

Very nice looking project so far. I've got a Flair SE-5 NIB, but too many projects are in line ahead of it.
WB will be back online very soon, so at the pace you've set here, you'll be able to get wheels from them instead of Flair before you will really need them. Otherwise you can always make wheels from balsa/ply laminations and some rubber tubing.

RE: Flair SE5A Build Thread
Well, I don't have to worry about that now, because I sold it to a member of my field. I needed money to finish my R&S F-16 and my KMP P-38. I had covered it and painted it and it ended up sitting on my table for about a month doing nothing. Here are pictures of it. My overall opinion of the build is that it was designed heavy. The ribs were cut from ply, the entire front was sheeted in ply, and the tail area was underdesigned. Of course, its nowhere near as confusing as Palmer plans' B-25J.

Maybe someone out there can help me out? I'm looking for a set of plans for the Flair SE5a. I would be willing to purchase them or if you trust me, Lend them to me so I could make a copy.
Thanks,
