Flair paints in the UK
Hi
I'm moving on to paint in the coming weeks, and was wondering about the colour accuracy of the Flair Range.
The colours I need are :-
RAF Ocean Grey
Raf Dark Green
RAF Medium Sea Grey
Flairs colours are:-
Matt Dark Grey
Matt Dark Green or Olive drab.
Matt Light Grey
I had read that Tamiya paints supply the correct colours but can't find any details on them, especially in larger cans (Normal only seen the small plastic model tins).
If you know of aqnother supplier for these colours I'd appreciate the details.
Cheers
Lee

RE: Flair paints in the UK
Lee the Flair paints are not accurate at all, some are close. I am building a Mick Reeves 1/6 Spitfire and located a company near London who can supply paints to any colour you want in any type you want, tins or spray. They also supply actual paint to the aircraft industry in the form of 2 pack paint systems. I opted for aerosols which were the same price as the Flair cans! All they need are the FS codes and you are away.
Go to [link=http://www.colorite.co.uk]http://www.colorite.co.uk[/link]
If you contact them tell them Nigel (Doncaster) put you onto them. I spoke to Brian and Alan.
I have a build page with more details about the Colours I am using with links to useful reference sites. [link=http://www.hbc.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/models/spitfire/]Click here[/link] and go to the Finishing link from the main page.

Lee Check my web site, I have a link to the FS colour scheme there (in the Finishing section).
All the RAF colours I am using are on a pdf file to download! Just go to the web site

RE: Flair paints in the UK
Cheers Nigel
After reading the site I found it.
Out of interest how many cans of each colour did you order, as stated above those are my main colours, I may have to add a red, white, dark blue and a black to paint the nose, rudder, invasion stripes and stars and bars.. Crikey, if you read all that I've got my work cut out !!
Best get building.
Final question, the green you used for the cockpit interior, what is that (make, code etc)
Cheers

RE: Flair paints in the UK
Hi Nigel,
It's the Yellow P47, slow build up on this site a page or so back.
In the scheme I've chosen the 56th used RAF colours to paint their aircraft whilst at Boxted Airfield (Funnily enough the Airfiled I fly from).
Looking forward to getting some colours laid down, but a bit more detail work first..
Where did you find thethin chart tape, I can't get it anywhere ?

The chart tape was a challenge to source but I found a specialist stationary supplier close to home:
Heatherbank Design Supplies
Milethorn Lane
Doncaster
DN1 2SU
South Yorkshire
Tel: 01302 325146
They had to order it for me but that was only a weeks delay. Details from dispenser are:
471 1/64" Black Matt Opaqu 0.40mm B 4934 Manufacturer is Letraset.
Had a look at the P47 thread. Very interesting to see the build progressing. Have to agree with your earlier comment, there is still a long way to go even if the primer is on, you are a long way from a conclusion.
