Byron P 51
I've been mostly tied up with the Jet field for some time. I have a Byron P-51 kit that is 50 to 60% complete that I have had for 15 years. Just wondering what the interest is in this plane. Would it be worth my while to finish this plane and sell it or sell the unfinished kit as it is ?
The kit is the original single wing with a 4.2 Sachs direct drive.

for some reason guys tend to stay away from the one piece wing. There is still a market for the kit .There has been one in the marketplace for awhile now. The 2 piece wing version seems to sell faster. It just depends on how much you want for it. They are still great flyers just a little inconvenient. Hope this helps

I'm with iflyrc-rcu I say build it! I just pick up a Byron Stang deluxe kit still new in the box! It has the 4 blade reduction system I'm not sure I want to fly my madian flight with it. I'm looking into setting the plane with a 2 blade and later converting over to the 4 blade system. This kit is so cool I found a ups shipping label dated April 21 1981 I was only 17 then. Well good luck on want ever you do.

I have an old, beat up, one piece wing Byron Mustang that has probably been flying for over ten years. (It looks like it too!!!) It is G-62 powered and is a great flying plane.
I have heard that the one piece wing is weak and some have folded inflight. I fly mine scale-like and have never had a problem.

Hummmmm,
Build it and fly it.......maybe I need to figure out a way to attach a turbine on/in it. but then that may hinge on blasphemy.......What are some of the bad characteristics of this particular plane? Landing with those big flaps down looks like a interesting experience in the making........
this is the paint scheme I had always planned to put on it. This was a Sport P-51 I had put together 16+ yrs ago.still have it.....

I haven't flown mine in a while (needs refurbishing), but I don't remember it having any bad habits. Just don't try to make a 3 point landing. Land on the mains and then let the tail settle.
I discovered that my take-offs looked much better if I didn't go to full throttle. I usually lifted off somewhere around 3/4 throttle stick and then eased the throttle on up to full. I had the inner gear doors on mine and I had to get the gear up as soon as possible or the gear would foul with the doors.
