RE: Spitfire or Thunderbolt
Without a doubt, the P-47 is the better choice. It has no bad traits and handles better on the ground. An added plus is that you can hide the engine and muffler in the cowl with ease. The same cannot be said for the Spitfire. Having said that, either choice is a good one.

The TF P-47 is a great flyer. But the TF Spitfire is a good flyer as well. The Spit is a bit is easier to build over wieght. I've built both and my know deceased spit was over wieght by about two pounds. Got to watch the wieght in the tail when building the spit. The same can be said for the P-47, but I didn't get that heavy with that model.
Go with the P-47, I think you'll enjoy it the most !!!

RE: Spitfire or Thunderbolt
Jug in my view
both fly extremely well. spit is sensitive to elevator and can lack authority on elevator in some high G manourvers. Can also snap if not careful in high G banks.
Need to watch CofG VERY carefully. Landing can be tricky, requires slightly nose high approach all way in. Ground handling is poor due to narrow track undercarriage.
P47 has excellent ground handling, flies extremely well and lands like a dream. Good all round warbird and better choice for 1st warbird.
cheers
