RE: GRUMMAN XF5F SKYROCKET
Wesley,
I don't know of any plans, but Hobby Hanger does have a kit, it is designed by Rich Urivich. It is a 60 inch span for 2 25-32s. Hope this helps.

I built one from a plan by Nick Ziroli. I will have to look for it in the shop. Prototype used O.S. Wankels. Has about a 5' wing span. Was a construction article from long ago. I'll get back to you

Okay, here is the information and more. The plans are from Flying Models: #CF 386, $9.00. The construction article is in the October 1975 issue and it appears that they have a copy available. Their site is: www.flying-models.com. In addition....Historic Aviation Books has a plastic model of the skyrocket, #9117C ($28.95) and a book, Naval Fighters Vol. 31, Grumman XF5F-1 & XP-50 #3736B ($7.95). Their site is: www.historicaviation.com/. Good hunting. By the way, the span of Nick's model is 55 inches. Regards.

Whayden2003:
Here are some pics of the "Skyrocket",built from the Hobby Hangar Kit..if you built it,read the instructions very carefully..before you glue the outer wing panels on,check to see if everything is alright..especially the dihedral pattern...My set of plans didn't have a CG point....Wrote to them and they sent me a 8x11 sheet with the CG point on it..still had to do some measuring to get it right...Anyway,the plane weights 8-1/2 Ibs and has Magnum 30 4-strokes on it...Wasn't planning on 8-1/2 Ib plane,so will run some stactic thrust tests on it to make sure there is enough there for flight..Another big problem was the rudder set up..had to make a new one and use .025 wire..used .040 before and could only get 3/16-1/4" throw...after I changed it,got 1/2-9/16" throw now....feel much better about that item now...Also has retracts...good luck if you build one.....
