Default Rivet/Panel Lines for 1/5 scale P-51

So here I am...assembling all the stuff I'll need to complete my Top Flite Giant P-51D and I find that the fellow who made the scale skins I wanted has discontinued making them.

Does anyone out there in RC Land know where one can obtain the rivet and panel details? I suspect that I shall be covering the plane with shrink film or fabric. Your input would be appreciated. Jerry S.

A permanent marker will work for lines and rivets on heat shrink. A good drawing showing the lines will show you the location. You would just need to mark them on the plane. I have them on one plane and they stay, for the most part. They are durable to a point but not really permanent.. if you understand my meaning.

Some time and effort with a black sharpie marker, pencil, and silver paint applied with a toothpick can give good results like this Arf WM Zero. Check my gallery for example. Paul

use i/64 chart tape and seal with a clear coat that is fuel proof works great lots easier than ironing on thin slivers of monokote. Im doing this on my 1/7 p-51

Paul, get yourself a few of these pens in different diameters and fill them with thinned ink of your choice of color. You'll soon discard your sharpie etc. These work great for line drawing.

When I made my 1/7 scale P-51, I used a serrated wheel that looks like a cowboy's spur, purchased at a sewing store. Women use it for transferring dress patterns on material. Anyway, you can draw your panel lines on the Monocote with a washable felt tip pen and when you have them the way you want them, you then lay your straight edge on them as a guide. Then, you roll the wheel across the Monocote...taking care that you don't press so hard as to penetrate the film. Wash off the ink and you have a very nice effect that will be permanent. However, using this method on the larger P-51 wouldn't look too good. I believe that aside from the defunct Scale Skins company, someone else makes something custom-drawn for various sized aircraft...that's what I'm look for. Thanks! Jerry
