I just got off the phone with horizon hobbies and talked to them about the retracts they are the same as the corsair but they have been upgraded. the main problem I have with my corsair is the ball links pop off during touchdown. they said they have fixed that problem by installing full cup ball link caps. they also are sending me some for my corsair free of charge.

I have received the new retracts about 1 day late I was out flying last saturday and on my first take off for the day the stock ball links poped off and the gear spun 90 deg. as it left the ground as it was starting the climb the tank lost preasure and the engine stalled. The plane still landed gracefully in the dirt but it did shove a rock through the underside of the wing and broke one of the ribs. Oh well I have ordered a new wing that came in today. I will rebuild the other wing and try to build flaps for looks and opperation, if I mess it up it is not a big deal. I have a new wing.

I test-flew mine today with the factory-installed retracts and they held up fine (3 flights with several touch-and-gos). They did loosen up a bit (just like the manual said they would) but they worked fine just the same. I taped on the plastic covers instead of screwing them in as recommended so I could get them out for adjustments as/if required.
Not sure that they would withstand "carrier landings" if you know what I mean but this ship takes off and lands just fine so that shouldn't be a problem.
If they start giving me trouble I'll consider replacing them with something else but until then I'll make do with what I have. It lands well enough that I don't anticipate many problems.
My GP Gee Bee, on the other hand, wasn't exactly a "floater". I flew one before purchasing mine and saw what a handful it is on landing so I opted for the Robostruts for it instead of using the supplied gear. The flimsy .40-sized plastic retracts recommended for my TT Rare Bear certainly wouldn't have held up so I ordered Robarts for it. This airplane is different, though, and the stock gear seem to be fine. You probably don't need to spend half-again as much as the kit on a set of aftermarket gear just to make it flyable.
This one's a winner
