Default ME 262 - the build begins

Hello-

Here is the beginning of my ME 262 build. FedEx Ground delivered it today. I will send a pic once I get the parts laid out and organized. I also received "Jens" from Perfect Pilots. Holy crap is this a cool pilot!! If you need any 1/4 scale WWII pilots, check them out. BTW, the 262 is a kit from Joe Saitta in Seminole, FL.

Elvis, Looking forward to your thread! I have one of Joe's new glass fuse kits also...as well as his prototype (built up) 262...Had some bad luck at WOD last summer and put her in when I lost and engine, needs a new wing but the fuse is fine. This is one great flying airplane! What are you going to use for power?

Are you sure the "pilots,"are 1/4 scale ??I would sure like to have a look at his web site and maybe they do 1/5 or 1/6 scale WWII Allied air combat pilots.
If your pilot is 1/4 scale what does that make for the ME-262's wing span?
I too looking forward to your build ,sure got 'in doors'weather in a lot of parts of the continental United States.

Hi Guys-

Thanks for the replies.

Rob - I will be bugging you and Joe alot about building this beast! I am thinking of 1.08's with tuned pipes for power.

Richard - As far as the pilot goes, it is 1/4 scale. The 262 is 1/4.5 scale, so I had to cheat a bit. It's just too neat of a pilot not to use. For allied pilots, they have other sizes than 1/4.

pics are of the kit and the pilot with a primer coat.

Hi Elvis,
I have a few questions for you, if you do not mind.
1. As I am interested in buying an Me262 kit can you please let me have the dimensions of
the package and its weight in which it came...to get a freight quote. Probablyeverything
is included on the sheet that is usually attached to the side of the box.

2. Also...is the kit in polyester or epoxy?

3. Dimensions of the plane

4. Manufacturer's website

With thanks

Reuben

Hi John!

Ya, I got this crazy idea to build a 262 from the 1948 air races in Berlin...... I will be contacting you for some graphics later in the build. BTW, have you given any thought to making instrument panels in vinyl?

Hmm, never thought of doing a panel, but its doable... you want carbon fiber or wood grain?

I can trace anything you come up with.

Thanks!

OK wise guy - burled walnut with gold rimmed instruments please .....

How about just plain black with colored instruments from that era ? I will send you the panel dimensions and a pic of 262 panel.

Thanks

I'll be watching this one closely, this is a plane that should be modeled much more often... Best of luck with the project!

Cheers,

Phil

Oh, and you'll love that Perfect Pilot. If you have the cockpit space and want a full figure, try fusing a Vailly full figure onto the Perfect Pilot bust. It takes a little surgury, but looks great when yer done. Just finished one for my '109.
