royal 40 engine problems
#2

Hang in there. I have 4 Royal 40's and 4 royal 45's. Have some spare parts for them too. Been flying them for about 20 years on and off. I fly other aircraft, too, but when I want to just have fun I fly an occasional flight with one of the birds that has the good ol' 45 on it.
I have the documentation that you are looking for but have to dig it out of hiding. I'm thinking that the high end is 3 1/2 turns out for starters. I fly mine all the time but never have messed with them since I set them. I don't really want to mess with them now. I don't mess with it if it is working. I think that they were a darned good engine for the price. If I can find the papers that came to me with the engine, I'll give you what they say. Watch that low end screw. It has a tendency to vibrate. I put zap on those that vibrated for me. Could always remove it and ruff up the threads on it. I never expected Royal to fold. By the way, almost all the parts are interchangable with the old OS 40 and 45 engines.
I'll look for the papers tomorrow and e-mail you tomorrow evening.
If I don't get back to you, please e-mail me. My dad is in the hospital and we are very concerned about him (he's 89). My mind may be on him.

print them off and you should be in business. the 40 and 45 instructions are the same. in fact the carbs are identical. lots of luck and i'm sure you will enjoy your royal engine.

Ron
