Don Smith P51 mustang
Hello guys I am about to finish up my Don Smith P 51 Mustang for the season that’s already here!
First let me start with a little history about this stang. I did not build this stang I bought it form a guy out in San Diego California for 250.00. He started the project but gave up. When I got it the fuse was half way started as the wing also. I had to re sheet most everything and reinforce a lot of it to my liking. I got the retracts from ultra precision in Canada They make very good retracts but they are not cheap. There is still a lot of work to be done and also I have not found a scheme I would like to go with as yet. I am also looking forward on using this medium to answer a lot of question I will have on scaling out this stang. Anyway here are a few pics.

Just some advise. Never use newspaper for your mask. The news print can stick to the plane and there are small holes in the paper that will allow over spray in. I would recomend the large black garbage bags for the job. I just cut them along the seams and then tape them inplace. also auto paint shops have masking paper in different widths with tape already applied on a roll. I use this for smaller jobs. Hello Gary you are right i will let my guy in Indy know this he's the one i had do the re sheeting and priming of this stang. Also it was a pleasure speaking with you at Toledo.I thought i was one of the biggest lover of the Tuskegee Airman But i am glad and proud to see you are.

Sure Bridog i will be going with 3 1/4 scale servos one on rudder and 2 on flaps four digitals 2 on elevator and 2 on ailerons 1 high speed on throttle and a mini on air. Now power plant will be decided on the final weight ,Don calls for a 5.8 but i don't think that will cut it. I have a 3w 80 in-line but Taurus just came out with a 102 inline i am looking at that very hard or the new zdz in line 120 blue heads. I have a few nosens stangs and they all came out around 27 to 32 lbs engines are 4.2 to 5.8 and they all fly just over scale. The don smith will be around 37 to 40 lbs depend how far i take her. I will be starting in a week or so i have a few more things i have to get before i can start.

Hey Tempest-RCU i am also trying to Finish up my Ziroli Hellcat i have been working on that and a Meister zero all winter i have just started to prime everything up for final detail so hope fully with alot of help from Nev these birds can all be ready soon.

Cool stuff Yardy! You've been a busy man this winter. 
They should look real sweet together out on the tarmac. Any ideas on a color scheme for the Zero?
My Hellcat has the fuselage and tail feathers pretty much structurally completed. I haven't started the wing yet and I probably won't get to it for a bit. (I have a few other things to finish up first.)
Don't worry about the shop, I know how that goes...

I must say I have never heard of a Zero with a snake on the side. I have certanly seen schemes for the JU87 Stuka and P-38 Lightning, but not the Zero. If you do find it, I would love to see the details.

a friend and I are busy making a mould for a 112" Don Smith P51D fuselage (for our own use, not commercial) Its a lot of work building the plug and then moulding it, but should be worth it in the end. Heres a pic of the fuselage plug so far.

Anyone heard of or used Eurokit Hydralic retracts, I have seen them in a hobby store and they seem to be very sturdy and well made. work on a small oil pump, controller and resivoir. Here's their website http://www.eurokitlucca.it/Old_Site/...e_95_fixed.htm
