first low wing?

Hello group,
A friend of mine wants to use a Hangar 9 PT19 as a low wing trainer (first low wing). He has plenty of high wing experience.I haven't even seen one of these fly so I don't know what to tell him, but it was a military trainer. What do you think? Powered by a Saito 150. How 'bout a 60 size Spitfire with fixed gear for the same purpose? thanks, jnkessler

The PT-19 would be a good low wing plane. I would stick a Zenoah G23 on it, will sound very realistic. I think both the Dynaflight and H9 will take the G23.
I would stear away from the Spit for now, may be a little touchy on landing for a first low wing.

I had this model a few years ago. (H9 PT-19) Once in the air, it has no bad habits, and would make a good low wing trainer.
Take offs and landings can be another story. The plane loves to nose over on both.
I "solved" this problem by bending the landing gear so that the axles were in front of the leading edge. Even so, I had to be quick with the elevator, to keep the nose overs from occuring.

I don't think the PTS Hanger 9 is a very good Low Wing Trainer dispite what Hanger 9 writes about. I had one and I feel that the Hanger 9 Pulse .46 is way better, and more forgiving. JMHO
