RE: Stans Fibertech or Fiberglass Specialties?
I've never bought anything from Stan's and have only purchased one item from FS, a pair of wheel pants. Hopefully my case is isolated, but I was sorely disappointed with the craftsmanship of the pants from FS. They were so full of holes that the filler putty pushed all the way through to the inside of the pants at several locations. The glass was loaded with excess resin. It's taken a lot of block sanding, filler, and priming to get those parts ready for paint.
FS carries a cowl for an EAA Bipe that I'm interested in, so I'll give them one more chance. Hopefully, the second time will be the charm for me.

I have delt with Stan and have gotten nothing but the best service and products. Don't think you would go wrong with Stans Fibertech.

Stan's glass is far superior to any I have received from Fibreglass Specialties. It has been several years since I purchased from F/S, but the parts had a thick white gelcoat that cracked very easy and they were real heavy. Stan's parts are light epoxy with a good smooth surface and no gelcoat. Those I have purchased were pinhole free.

I got my TF P-40 cowl from Stan as well as a Midwest Citabria and wheel pants. I couldn't find a pin hole on any of the pieces.
They were very nice but a little pricey.

RE: Stans Fibertech or Fiberglass Specialties?
Hello Everyone,
I would like to let you know that at Fiberglass Specialties we don't use a gel coat as some believe and we do use West Systems Epoxy Resin. We do add a little white pigment to our resin just to give it color. We also take the time to wet out the cloth and add a second band of cloth around the firewall opening and wheel pant openings for added strength. This company was started in 1977 and we have the largest collection of molds in the world. I bought this company 1 1/2 years ago and would be glad to help you in any way I can. Thank you very much.

Hey Guys,
A little off the subject, but does anyone know who sells replacement windcreens and glass. S.F. and F.S. do not carry them. I hate the smoked glass on my big H9 Cessna 182 because I can't show off the scale cockpit and console. Any leads are very welcome. Thanks.

I've bought two cowls from FS and both were of excellent quality. I've not dealt with Stan, but I have heard nothing but good things. I guess the above posters have pretty much agreed that both are good companies. BTW--looks like FS reads the RCU forums which is a plus far as I am concerned.

The best glass work that I have had was from Aeroglass out of Canada. However, they have closed thier website and looks like thier shop. You might still find some of the work at Quantun Models or Sheldons Hobbies. Aeroglass was the company who made the cowls for Skyshark/Heritage Models.

I bought a fiberglass cowl for my TF GS P-47. The quality was very good. It was ready to primer and paint. Being fiberglass it was actually lighter than the ABS cowl that came with the kit. I would buy from Stan's again.
