I am trying to build a carrier for my P-47 and I remember a while back someone posted pictures of a PVC carrier for their H9 P-47 that I can't seem to find. They had a German paint scheme on their jug. Does anyone know the forum/post/member?

Thanks
D

If it was G-Pete's P-47 in German markings you are thinking of I doubt you will find anything on this thread as Pete's P-47 was not a Hangar 9, it was a Top Flite.

As the Top Flite is a one piece bolt on wing I think the plug in wing on the Hangar 9 will require a different set up all together.

Found it way back on this thread, page #101 post #2513! It is G-Pete (I think he has both a H9 and TF P-47)

Thanks,

Doh!!!

I forgot that Pete did that H9 Jug, I was thinking of "Beetle" which was the Top Flite.

Cheers

After cutting some small holes in the wing to get a better viewof the two hinges I could not see, two of the three hinges on the right aileron did have a block made from 1/8" balsa wood behind them. Total hinge support 1/4" balsa. The blocks were about a 1/4" bigger than the hinges. I used radio south hinges in the build. I talked to Horizon and they requested I return the wing to them and I shipped it out today. Will udate when I here back from them.

I've had this plane since it first came out,and the only thing I'm going to change now are the retracts.I've hAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE with these,so I'm going to go with Robarts. The servos[JR 791's] either burn out or the gears strip.I'm fed up.Tom[:@]

Hi Andy, I'm sure they do as when I bought those retracts Darrel said to give him a shout if I needed any bit,s ie, torque links, axels and so on, so I would think Martin will get a new strut no problem.

Interesting, I had the same thing happen with one of my Shindin struts and they're made of solid stock metal.[:@]

Found a .40 size Global P-47 Thunderbolt Razorback ARF in my storage room. What would this be worth?

Are the Robart Retracts for this plane a "drop in " replacement or you have to make some serious mods?

Just wondering...

I would imagine they will be. Do you already have them? I have had two of these birds and put Sierra's in both, drop in and superb.

I put Robarts in mine. Needed a little time with the Dremel tool, but not much. Also have to relieve the opening just below the retract mount to clear the airlines. The Robarts are a MAJOR improvement. I haven't yet figured out how to mount the gear doors with the Robarts installed. If this issue has already been covered in this thread, does anybody know the time stamp or post number?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply.

For all the pilots that are still flying the plane with stock retracts, how often they bend or need attention?
I have couple of giant scale warbirds with Sierra and Robart in it.
Could I just go by with the Hangar 9 retracts or I need to go out and buy Robart right way in order to land the plane without issues?

Happy Holidays.

They'll eventually break where the gear door screw is located. So it's not a question of simply bending back and re-purposing. When it goes... it goes.

I've got a pair of the factory retracts that are still wrapped in the tissue paper. PM me if you are interested.

Lifer,

Here's how I did the gear doors. Struts are the regular Robart 1/2" for 4-5" wheels. If I had gone with the ones Robart makes for this plane they wouldn't stick out of the wheel wells quite so much. The stock wheels look like crap so I also put 4.5" wheels on mine.

Doomking,

It will cost you $120+ just to buy the JR791 servos to make the Hangar 9 retracts work. You'd be much better off putting that money towards a set of Robarts.

Joe

Joeflyer.

THANK YOU! I now see a way to accomplish mounting the doors. If you ever drive thru KC, give me a call! I owe you a beer!

Merry Christmas.

Hi Tomas, merry Christmas to you and a happy new year when it comes. That was lovely flying and if you keep landing like that you will be using that undercarriage for a very long time.

Hi Simon, and thanks.

I found ,that the P 47, is a werry easy Warbird to fly and land. I have been flying all sorts of Warbirds, and this one is by far,the best. [8D]

How is yours holding up ?

BRG. Tomas.

Hi Tomas, I sold mine after 30 or 40 very enjoyable flights and I am now busy with a 1/5 scale FW190 and a YT International Hellcat.

Hi Tomas, the other problem I had with this gear are the stock wheels.Ive had three tires split right down the center of the tire.I bought two Robart tires and hope they are better than H9's. This is still a great flying WB,sad they stopped making it.I know they had brought it back for a short time and said the reason they stopped making it was because not enough people wanted to pay the price. Hi Prop Wash.
I also found that those stock wheels was no good at all,so I replaced them with Robart 4",they just fit nicely in the wheel bay in the wing.

I whonder if that seice of those wheels are true scale ?

Best regards, Tomas.
