I have one too... It's one of my favorite airplanes. I fly mine with an OS 120 4 stroke... It's an excellent flyer.

Hey P40 Brother ,
I am still working on mine as a side job .
YOu have many options
1) esm retracts --just need some mods to the rails , you want the new 3.5 size . I bought them for my esm corsair
2)sierra for the 60 to 90 size planes

Hay LDM,
I'm using the Sierra Retracts on my ESM F6F and at 20 pounds, these retracts are the best I've ever used. You can't go wrong with Sierra Retracts and work flawlessly for me.

You talking about these from sierra? I thought they may not hold up to this size bird.

Lomcevac54T,
I used the Sierra retracts made especially for the ESM F6F. There are several size F6F retracts that Sierra produces for this type of airframe-these are the ones for the ESM model.

Here are the retracts you need to use on the ESM F6F. They are very robust and do an excellent job of taking the bounces out of your landings. They are not cheap...but worth every penny you spend...believe me, they are first rate, very well made and the service these folks give is very good.

No offense but this is the CMP Hellcat not the esm , the biggest difference is the quality and cost .
The sierra are no doubt fantastic retract but they average almost 40% higher then the average cost of this plane .
From a value standpoint with proven field experience the esm 3.5 work well from what I am being told .
The ones below are new , they are rather for a 30 lb aircraft .

I have a set of these and I'm confident they are more than adequate for the CMP Hellcat.

Sounds good, I am planning to try to keep it light. Wanting to use a DLE 20 or Mintor 22 gas engine.

Decided to go with the Robart air retracts. I have to do some modding to make them fit. Also picked up a G-26 last weekend to power it with.
