Default BME50 enough for 25# P47

am in process of having a 90" P47 finished up. Fiberglass fuse, foam core/sheeted wing. Builder is conserned about weight at 25#, including engine, etc. a BME 50 is rated at 4.8hp, while a G62 is 4.75Hp and heavier. Do you think the BME50 will be enough for scale flyinf at 100' above sea level?. Thanks

That engine choice should not be a problem. The Original Yellow Jugs flew with a G-38 and they were about that same weight. I have a 3.2 for my Yellow AC and I know it won't be a problem.

Several years ago, a local flyer had a Vailly P-47 (92"), that weighed near 40#. It was flown for several years with a G-62. Not a rocket ship, but very scale like flight. I had a Byron that was about 23#-25# if I remember correctly, and it did well with a Brison 3.2 (50cc). I would say you should be fine.

Thanks, guys- I thought it would be enough for scale flying. Will watch the CG.
