Default precision Cut Kits(Ziroli Hellcat)

Hi, Just wondering if anyone could tell me about the quality of the glasswork on the precision kits. How do they compare with the fuse kits on the ziroli site? Thanks for your time!

I don't think they make glass fuselages....They provide woodkits, i.e. wing kits, fuselage kits (wood), etc.........

Default Glass kit

Ziroli provides the glass, but when you order your Precision Cut Kit you have to let them know if you are building all wood or fiberglass because the kits are different. I have thier P38 laser cut all wood kit, very complete, hard to beat the quality of laser cut, my parts fit together very well, takes very little fussing to get perfect fits

Default HellCat....

Power.....Ziroli does "very" good plans parts and accesories....Have a number of his planes flying....wood and glass both....Fiberglass vs Wood or Built-up fuse is a matter of choice...fiberglass fuse will save time and built-up fuse will save a little weight....either way I'm sure you'll be satisfied with your results....Bill....

Hi,

I'm also debating between the glass or all-wood Ziroli kits. Any opinions on whether the glass fuz makes a big time difference, or whether there's a big weight penalty. I'm planning on building the P-38

Thanks,

Steve

I built a Ziroli 92" P47 and used his glass fuse. It was my first experience with a glass fuse and I was very pleased with it. There are no panel details molded on the glass fuse but it seems very well made to me. I don't think there was much of a weight penalty because my plane came in at only 28#, which is pretty light for this plane, and the flight characteristics reflect this. I wish he had glass fuses for all his designs. I'm starting a Dauntless and am not looking forward to all the planking and sanding of the fuse.

I agree with warbirdz1 in wood vs glass, it's a personal preference thing. I am more comfortable working with wood so that is what I use. My attempts at glass did not yield the results I wanted (expected) but that is just me. Now my pal Cap'n Eddie can work all kinds of magic with glass.

Either glass of wood is fine. An experienced builder can save more weight with an all wood kit, but an experienced builder can save more time with glass.

Ziroli's glass fuses are great, there have been a few 'knock offs' of hie stuff over the years, and none of it compares.
