Here is a preliminary pic of the Giant Scale Planes P-51 ARF. I recovered the wings and tail in Ultracote. Engine is 3W 75i.

Beautiful looking plane.. What are the specs on that gorgeous bird? I have a WM P-51 GS. I actually had my first take-off with it today but needed help on my landing due to overheating of the engine. Great job on yours and I look forward to hearing about the flight results.

Hello Capt. Why did you have to recover it? Was the quality poor?

Plane is 96" span with f-glass fuse. Specs are at www.giantscaleplanes.com. The wings and tail were covered with "low temp covering" and I didn't care for the scheme so I had to recover.

The fuse, cowl and other f-glass parts were very nice, fit is very good also. As I said earlier in this thread , I didn,t much care for the covering and so I recovered with ultracote. Hardware is not much use but most people will have their own hardware preferences anyhow. Engineering left something to be desired in some areas - but you don't undertake a project of this kind without some model building experience which would carry you through the questionable areas. Ditto on what are referred to as the " instructions". However this is turning out to be an impressive model. Will soon be progressing to operational and flight testing.

FYI Here is the 68inch GSP P51. I did not like anything about it and rebuilt the whole stupid thing. I run a OS 1.08 in it. I installed a set of Robart Mechanicals too. I have about 5 flights on it. It is an Okay plane.

It was a very short first flight due to engine problems - bad sensor. The subsequent dead stick was great. Low speed handling surprised all of us. Second flight soon.

DMyers - sorry to take so long to reply - was away on honeymoon. Anyhow - first full flight was yesterday. Engine ran great (bad sensor) and plane flew very nicely. Mostly 1/2 t0 3/4 throttle for trimming and pictures (soon). Tracks very well and does nice big loops from level flight. Rolls well. Needed to make some flap adjustments for trim and reglue the cowl hold down blocks. Next flight maybe tomorrow. G.
