Hello Antonio,
on my web site you can find complete building of my Ziroli F6f.
You very nice made your model, so now maybe will be interesting to see how I finish my Ziroli F6F model. Color scheme is different from your, but details on surface maybe will interest you.
From this page you can see that: http://www.nsmodelers.rs/warbirds/he...jekat/jun-2011

Hi Mirce:
Beautiful job on your hellcat and I am really impressed with your welding skills.
I did a build forum for my Hellcat for fun and partly to keep me motivated. It is at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/gian...cc-radial.html

I've been a bit busy building so Ive yet to do a maiden. Finally got around to balancing this bohemeth of a plane. She came in at 52lbs! 7lbs of ballast. She's sporting a DLE 120, robart 6" scale wheels, Hitec 5645& 645 servos, smoke system and scale exhuast. Hopefully she flies as good as she looks lol..... I'm gonna need a crane to put her on the runway. Looking to maiden her the week after next. Just waiting on my truturn hub adapter..... The Vanessa cg machine works pretty well. I'll see how well once she's inverted on the maiden.....

Thanks Lou am great full for you reply. I can copy the CG no drama, I hear they need a lot of weight up front. I'm perplexed at the down trim elevator....I watched a lot on youtube and you are right, a lot of pilots near stall at take off or at the least their models leap into the air after a big correction now I know why. Is there a problem with the angles of attack on wing/rear stab or is it a characteristic of the model ? You saved me here, I would have powered down the runway with neutral elevator only to run into dramas. I would have thudndered down the strip only to have it leap into the air................when you get airborne do you take the down trim off, I'm assuming you do and what happens on landing do you add again ? All new to me, I've been spoiled with large P 47's and Mustangs haven't heard of this one before but am sure glad I have.
Thanks mate,

Mick

Mick, Hellcat is little "short" in front of CG, same like Zero for example. Because that very important is to put all you can do as front as possible. That save a lot of weight in cowl later...
On my first Ziroli F6F I made many scale details (workable tow hook, lights on the bottom of the fuselage...) paint and filler was also heavy behind CG. Model was 22 kg, fly well with Evolution 80 GX, but need a lot of airfield on take off. Retracts are seriously affected...
On my second model I remove almost 2,5 kg, and model fly same good, but with Zenoah GT 80. That engine have less power than Evolution...
Just take care on landing, you must have approach with throttle almost to the ground. Flaps help a lot, flaps are down about 45 degrees...

I use CG same like on Ziroli plan...

Mick, which Hellcat you have, Ziroli?
I have two Ziroli and no need to do anything with elevator, no up, no down...
If your model is about 20kg with engine you want to instal it will fly great, even with 2 kg more...

Hi Mick:
I added down elevator using the trim button on the transmitter. It wanted to climb quite a bit on takeoff on the first flight. Once the trim was set so that it flew straight and level with no hands on the transmitter. That setting was good for takeoff and landing. On my first flight I had an issue with the engine that was dyeing and was rushed to land. I did not get a chance to try the flaps then. On later flights I did and as I recall it made the plane climb slightly when the flaps were down. I programmed in to my transmitter down elevator when the flaps are set so it would fly level hands off. It is just my preference not to have the trim change when the flaps are down.
On landing keep some power on and I find that a wheel landing is best to avoid a stall.
Mirce is correct to recommend keeping the tail light on this model. Mine was built up and I had everything possible forward including a 12 lb engine. I had to add 1.4 lbs in the nose to balance mine. I suspect that the built up fuselage may have a lighter tail then the fiberglass one. I’m finishing up a Ziroli Corsair with a fiberglass fuselage and feels like it is heavy in the tail.
I built the Bearcat a long time ago and read about first flights that went straight up, stalled and crashed. On the rebuild people were putting 1 degree of positive incidence in the stab. (the leading edge was higher than the trailing edge in respect to the plans). It was too late in my build to correct it but I was prepared and pushed down when I saw it leap into the air.
I think all of the Ziroli models are that way in my opinion. I find it is good to start out with about 5 clicks of down before takeoff on the first flight on his models. You will probably need to add more down trim in flight.
Good luck with yours.

I haven't seen much happen in this thread recently so I thought I'd chime in. I just purchased my full wood kit from national balsa this past weekend at warbirds over delaware and I couldn't be more excited to start it. I'm hoping I can find the perfect 4 stroke engine for it that won't cost me an arm and a leg, but I will most likely be going with the gt80 and deal with the chain saw noise. I hope to be able to post some updates in here or in a new thread within the next few months!

Hey guys I am nearing the end of a long road in the first phase of restoration, and close to my maiden flight. It seems 5 1/2" back is the cg sweet spot. Has anyone calculated where this same cg would be measurement wise with the wingtips of a 3 piece wing removed?
