KMP Spitfire
I picked up the new KMP Spitfire from my local Hobby Shop yesterday. All I have done on it so far is to make sure that it was all there and it made the trip over on the boat ok. The covering is perfect and has a nice scale type paint job. This ARF has a little more work involved that some I have seen. The wheel wells are not installed in the wing. They are provided and all that seems that has to be done is cut covering and glue in. They are white molded plastic and I am sure that most will want to paint before installation. I am happy to say that the wheel wells will take a large enough wheel that there should be no problem flying off of grass. Wheels are included but very scale looking. This is a nice looking plane. I am told that the 109 by KMP should be in the states very soon. One other thing, There is no spinner included with this plane.

I plan to use some steel wool to buff down the finish, kinda rough and more overspray than I like. That should smooth it out and 'weather' the paint a bit. I would like to add some of the wing access detail with aluminum tape and styrene. Painting those with an acrylic a shade off to highlight. Then I'm going to paint my codes/roundels/fin flash/serial. The plane I am modeling had invasion stripes, so it will get them too, though I'm thinking to do it as late July early August 44' when they just had them underneath. Panel lines will be added with a pencil and then the whole plane clear coated, I think I'll use either modelmaster acrylic or nelsons.
If my buffing does not 'do it' for me, I may repaint the whole plane.
Anyone have any ideas about making and installing some cannon barrels, I'm leary of drilling into the leading edge.

RE: KMP Spitfire
and when you do, tell him alan , his mate from the uk, is with the company who designed the spit, give him my best, and ill see him in november,
anyone who has any questions on the spit, feel free to ask, and i will do my best, this is the first batch, and we have found in the uk a few minor problems, which i will share with you, if asked, note, these have now been corrected at the factory, full build, and flying/weathering of several of the spits, can be found on
r/cmodelflyers.co.uk,
until the U.S. builders get into the kit, and get up to speed, come and share our builds, then, you can share them wth U.S. builders

Hello Allan
I need some advise if you can help.Just bought a Spitfire and waitng for delivery. I would like to power it with a petrol(gasoline) engine and was thinking of a Zenoah g26 or similar . I can find one for a good price but dont know if it will fit the cowl, has enough power etc.Do you maybe have any advise to share.
Best regards

RE: KMP Spitfire
The Zenoha is a good engine, however you will end up with carb one side and silencer the other, go for one of the inline carb types, MVVS, Mackay 24, BME, then you can keep the cowl hacking to a minimum.

RE: KMP Spitfire
Daniel,
Most compressors come with an adaptor for inflating footballs (looks like a thick hollow needle). Slide a length of retract hose over this and fit the adaptor that comes with the air valve on the other.
