TF giant and wing tubes?
I got a question concerning wing tubes. Had this in another forum, but i figured that ist is a warbird and you guys would be able to help. Anyways I will be starting a TF giant P-51 (as soon as it gets here!) and i want to make removable stabs and a 3 piece wing for ease of transportation. I am very confused on what type and size tubes to use. What is the difference between all of these differnt tubes, Phenolic, anodized, and whatnot. Any suggestions???

Nate,
I am completing an 89 3/4" Sig Hog that has 1" wing tubes in it. Seems like most of the guys experienced with 1/4 and 1/3 scale planes felt more comfortable recommending that I should use the 1 1/4" tubes. But I couldn't fit the 1 1/4 " tubes inside the wing very well, so reluctantly they endorsed the 1" tube. (It was tricky enough getting 1" tubes inside a dehydral wing!) Like me, your plane is not doing 3D, but your plane is closer in size and performance to mine. But yours is heavier. If theres any final doubts, call up the gal at "Gator". She's pretty knowledgeable about this stuff since she sells it.

Ndawg232,
You should go with 1" I.D. phenolic sockets. I find that they fit better with 1" O.D. aluminum tunes and are sturdier than cardboard.
