Hey Guys,
Flak, really a nice looking 190 you have there. I don't want to hijack your thread but had a question on your set up with the engine mount.
Are you utilizing the soft mount set up that came with the kit? My buddy Cal set his up with the soft mount. Everything is set up as it should be and spaced correctly - mounts, cowl, spinner, fan etc. With the soft mount, the torque of the G-62 will pull the fan to come into contact with the cowl at various throttle settings. It isn't a terrible "rub" but significant enough that you would never fly it like that. He's tightened the mounts, re-aligned everything and still had the problem. He finally hard mounted the engine and will remove the fan for the first flight which will hopefully be tomorrow.
Just wondering if you guys noted a similar problem or not.
BTW Flak or Todd, are you guys going to make the Denver Warbird meet? Hope to see you guys out there....
Dave

Dave,
I havent had the problem yet, as I havent started my engine with them installed.
this is the first plane I have built with the soft mounts. all my other warbird engines
are hard mounted. I am hoping to not have the vibration/rubbing though.
I had been working on the details to go to Denver this year. but as it gets closer, I
may not make this time. I hope to next year if not this coming June

Smurf Jet,
I have a G-45 in my -190. I have run the engine (three Tanks) at various power settings including full throttle. I have not expierenced the rubbing problem. I did however balance the fan unit. It was pretty close to being ballanced. I also have balanced the prop. I have switched from a 20X8 NX wood prop to a 20X10 Bolly Carbon prop. I have not tried out the new prop as of yet. I will know more this weekend. Sorry I couldn't tell you more...

Nice! Mine is waiting for me to choose an engine, lol
SisT was sold from what I understand and the new owner was going to produce the same kits but I have no further updates on this. Ask Aeroscale for more info.
The latest FW isnt composite, Top Flight GS FW 190.
Jose from Fliteskin has just released a TA 152H which is part composite and built up wings.
Those are the latest US releases Im aware of. I sold my SisT D9 kit to another RCU member so it will be nice to see how that goes.

Hey Chris,
Collecting parts and finishing another project.... I have the retracts, carbon spinner, bubble canopy, light weight surface kit, on the way is my engine, cockpit, ordnance, guns, exhaust, pilot, gun hood latches, starting to get the servo mounts and hardware next.... The OS 320 FF will be modified by Ray English and still researching "aluminum paint" I think I'm going with BVM Jet Metal. I wanted to use Authentic Metal from TigerModels but he can't ship to the US. I changed the scheme I'm planning since the more I looked at my example model it kept getting more cartoony looking.
I'm going with Black/Blue 12 and am really looking forward to the project. The D9 will be my pinnacle project and I've already doubled the cost of the project before I've glued or cut anything !!
You'll see it as it goes together here and at RCSB.
Joe
