Prop for OS52 on a kyosho spitfire
I have been flying my Kyosho Spitfire on a OS 52 four stroke with a 10 * 8 prop for a while now, it fly’s very nicely, very scale like and I’m very happy with it. However I'm looking for a tiny bit more power in the vertical. I did a little research and tried a 12 * 5, which was awful, it required full power to keep it in the air. What would you suggest a better prop would be for the OS52? I’m at sea level.
Thank you
Thank you

I would definatly try an 11x7 first up.
Checking the OS web site that is a recommendation but of course a few questions have to be answered first.
Is engine run in?
How heavy is Spitfire?
At $2.75 from Tower splash out and get an 11x6 too.
APC's are a good stiff sports props and the Bolly Clubman series is a winner too.
I'm sure too that you balanced your prop. (just a reminder)
Hope some of this helps you get some more vertical.

RE: Prop for OS52 on a kyosho spitfire
Hi,
Thanks for the answer, I'll try both the 11 * 6 and 11 * 7. yes the engine is run in fully.
I don't know the exact weight, it’ not heavy so I would say about 2 - 2.5Kg all up, I’ll have to get it on the scales.
I normally use APC, but my local hobby shop has been getting in only Grauper prop lately, they don’t seem too bad by quite a bit wider than APC, and yes I always balance my props first.

RE: Prop for OS52 on a kyosho spitfire
I just purchased the Kyosho Spit. I too am installing the OS .52 4 stroke. I like add a 4 bladed prop. Do you know where and what size I need to buy for this engine?
Thanks so much!

If you haven't already bought the engine would suggest you go for a ASP61FS, it is a bored out 52 and should provide a little more power if you want a 4 blade prop.
I have tried a 4 blade on my Spit, and it does fly, but barely. I can not remember which size, I think something like a 10*6 or siomalar

If you are using the older style Grauper props (wide) they are not as powerful as an APC prop of the same size, the pitch is less on the Grauper, try the new G-Sonic range of Grauper props as they are similar to APC at about half the cost.

Hi!
No 3 or 4-blade prop will be as good as a 2-blade prop! For the OS .52 fourstroke engine a 11x7, 11x8 , 12x5 or 12x6 APC or RAM will be a good start .Graupner also make a good prop: the Graupner "Cam prop". Not the old wide blade Graupner which should be avoided like the black Master A props.

Thanks Jan...
The OS .52 4 stroke that I have has not been broken in yet. Can I still go ahead with the 3 or 4 bladed 11 x 7 prop?
I thinking I should probably break the motor in with a 2 bladed prop and then switch. What are your thoughts?
Silvio

I would stay away from 3 and 4 bladed props on that combination. You will loose alot of efficiency and you don't have enough motor to pull it, plus it will look bad anyway. Just remember that the real airplane was turning that prop in the 1500 rpm range. Stick to a 7 or 8 pitch 2 bladed prop running in the 9 to 10k range static and you will be fine.

I have the Kyosho p-51 and P-40, Im using a saito 82 with a 13x7 and the saito 72 with a 4 blade 11x6. They both have plenty of vertical and speed.
If you thinking to upgrade your power house have a look at the saito 72 and 82 are the same size and they mount into a 46 size plane.
