Default WTB Warbird which one flys the best??

I would like to buy a warbird, I have had my eyes on a corsair, but I dont know what will fly and land good? I have the G2 simulator and the p51 I dont much care for unless it does better than on the sym. I like the corsair on the sym it does pretty good. Anyone have a good suggestion that which one flys, lands and perfoms good?

How much flying experiance do you have? Corsairs can be a little tricky on landing (like to nose over). PT19's and P47's are most often recommended as beginner warbirds. Also depending on how scale you want to be, there are a lot of "sport scale" ARF's suitable for first warbird, what size are you looking to do, .40, .60, big bird (over 80") Giant Scale Gas

First off, are you considering an ARF or a kit? Either way, a good way to get into warbirds is with the 'FunScale' ones, such as the old DynaFlite FunScale warbirds, and current Great Planes ones. They can be made into fairly good looking, yet great flying aircraft which will help you transistion. I personally have a DynaFlight FunScale 40 Corsair, which was my first warbird and is now 7 years old. I have since built and flown the Top Flight Corsair, and the experience that I gained with the DynaFlite one was very helpful and made the transistion easy.
Flying warbirds requires you to become a good rudder pilot, but with a FunScale one it becomes easy.
Good luck, no matter what your choice.

I will most likely go with 60 size. I might go with the 40 but not a big scale. I like the looks of the corsair, I also like the texan.

Default Which ARF

I would highly recommend the Hanger 9, P51 ARF, 60 size.
This is a well built model with installed retracts..raise the servo 1/4" to prevent
binding.
I have a YS-91AC, swinging a 14-8 prop, the only change that I made was to decrease the dihederal from 6 1/2 to 3".
The model flies just great..I have not had any problems with the retracts or the landing gear bending. I have one a paved runway....Your have to be quick on the elevator when landing. On take off
I hold the model down, as it wants to take off as soon as the tail comes up. Read the Forum on ARF's & Warbirds..

I think a P39 is the best.Tricycle gear ,no tendency to tip stall flies good fast or slow.I have had a couple P39's and several other war birds and this has to be my choice

Default corsair

My top-flite 60 size corsair flies really nice. No where near as hard to fly as I was led to believe by some others that I talked to. Flies like its on rails. I took my time and built it very true.If you like corsairs and are looking for a kit,try one. Tivey

Default which one FlyingBill?

You mentioned numerous fun/sport warbirds. Which do you recommend in the 40 or even 60 size? I have a TT46 in my trainer and I'm eyeing the Midwest Messerschmitt .40. I've heard it's a pretty forgiving "warbird".

I'm not a P51 fan (for looks or flying), GP discontinued the Spitfire (which, along with the P51 seems to crash more than fly) and nobody offers a P47 kit in .40 size.

I think I'm between a rock and hard place, Midwest ME aside. I've also considered Skyshark's Skyraider, but I think I'll wait and do that one later with a .60 engine.

Suggestions?

Did you ever consider the T-6 Texan? It was a military trainer like the PT-19. It has retracts, unlike the '19 and many different sizes are available.
