Here is the CB P40 spinner. I think the P40 spinner is closer to scale but thats my opinion. Its pretty nice, good price. Remember to order the nut adapter for your engine.

Hey Guys,

I need your input. Take a look at the attached pics and tell me if it might fit inside the spit cowl. The dimension from the engine port to the outside of the header is 7/8". If it fits, a piece of aerotrend coupling can be routed to the back of the cowl.

It don't believe it will fit without cutting out the side of the cowl.

Thanks for the info on the spinners. I'm leaning towards the Dave Brown, custom cut for a Graupner 3 blade prop. It's still less then a tru-turn, close though with shipping.

I'm also tempted by the CB spinner, but I don't know if It trust my dremel skills enough to cut a 3 blade.

Hmm... If there's an inch between the jug and the cowl, and you put it so that it angles with the cowl, there might be room to direct it out with a coupler. I'm not sure though. I'm interested to see what happens if you try it though. Might have to baffle the cowl a bit to get some air over it too.

Hey Jetset91c... I thought you would have no more H9 products? Lol
Do you still have you H9 AT-6 Texan 60?
How did the retract system work and is this one on the spitfire upgraded to a decent set. One that dosn't bend at the knees and shake side to side.....?????
Otherwords, how is the retracts that come with this spitfire from H9?

Good enough?
Thankyou for you input....
By the way, magnum is having a huge sale on there engines..... I got the .91-4stroke should pull this bird fine.....
Does Keleko's exhaust setup work for the Magnum???
Anyone
Thanks
Justin.

Jetset91c,

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to buy one and see if the header will fit. It would be nice
if someone would check the dimension. With the stock muffler installed, it would be easy to check. There should be at least an inch.

Great memory! It's true I was a bit miffed about the retracts that came with the Texan. I ended up replacing them with Robart mechanicals and larger wires. That's held up great. I flew the heck out of it last year, and it's still around. I've fallen for it's flight characteristics, and won't be salvaging any of it's parts for this bird. It still gets claps at the field. ; )

On the spit, the assembly is way better. I don't even feel the need to reinforce anything, and there's already some triangle stock on the firewall. I got the crappy cowl, and after seeing the better one at the hobby shop tonight, I'm going to see about replacing mine. The improved cowl is so much nicer. I'll let you know how HH is on swapping mine.

I have some concerns about the retracts. They look an awful lot like the Texan's. I'm going to pull them soon and see if it's going to be a problem. I've already been eying the Robart economy models. I also like Frank Tiano's mechanicals, so I may try them this time.

I'm going to go Saito 100 again for this one. It's a dream in the Texan, and it's held up great. I have no complaints about it at all. I still haven't flown the Magnum 1.20 I bought for my Sportster, but perhaps this year.

Best regards,

-JS

What kind of muffler is that anyway? I'd measure it for you, but I'm pretty far from mounting the engine.

Jetset,

It is called a TurboHeader. It will be coming on the market within a week or so. It works very well and pulls about 300 more rpm out of the engine with a great sound. You can email [email protected] to get more details.

Hey Justin, Yes I make a scale exhaust for that engine and airplane combo.

Kelvin,

Do you by chance make a ring-type of exhaust for the H9 Texan and Saito 100?

Hello- fellow Spitfire lovers. This is my first time on the forum. Flew my Spit the first time last weekend. A word of advice. At the end of the day, when I was cleaning my plane, the fuel had made the paint tacky on the scoop. Residual fuel from inside the cowl leaked out Sunday night, and literally destroyed the paint on the under side of the cowl. I called H9, they said they had not gotten any other complaints, but they are sending me a new cowl, I highly recommend removing the cowl and cleaningit out thouroughly. It's a pain, but it will preserve the looks of your plane.

I'd really like to use the Kleo exhaust setup on mine, but priming an engine (Saito 91 or Saito 100) that has no choke is not possible with your setup correct? Since the motor will be inverted, I can't simply use a medice dropper to put a few drops of fuel in the carb either(without flipping the plane over every time I need to start it). Any thoughts on this?

Well, I called Horizon, and they're sending a new cowl for it. They were very cool about it, and they still had me on record from the last time I called.

I got the aileron servos in, and mounted. While drilling the last hole on the servo cover, the covering caught on my drill bit, and ripped the corner 1/4 inch off. My bad. Now I've got to go buy a whole roll of light grey covering. : (

I took a good look at the gear, and they look exactly like the ones in the Texan, and there's definitely a little wobble in it. I'm getting more worried about it, as my field is pretty rough. I'm going to hold off on judgment until she's finished though. What's the word with folks who've tried the stock gear?

I imagine you might be able to use the throttle cut switch, if you have one. There's still a little air that gets by, but an electric starter would help. YMMV.

I have been getting on fine with the stock gear.... Try it first before you spend loads on other gear
